I am curious to know whether any Sec-12 societies of Dwarka have taken any action against Adarsh World School and their use of loud speakers. Pretty much they have turned sector 12 into a giant railway station and cinema hall with blaring loud speaker. Astonishing.

You will be surprised to know during the examination of IGNOU in Pragati Public School loud speakers/DJ were used in the name of Christmas festival. There were lots of noise and finally after half an hour school authority was forced to stop DJ.Can you beleive that how a school can think of using DJ in the same premise where examination of post graduate and MBA are held.

Why to blame schools only? Yesterday despite my personal visit to Abhiyaan Apartment at 11.15 pm the residents did not turn off loud speakers.

We had a school running in a ground floor flat when we shifted to dwarka in '02.
A property dealer running a school!!
Loud speakers, drums, electric wires from main poles, encroachment of wat ever space and over crowded maruti van with children packed in.
That was our close encounter wid a private school.
RWA didn't do anything.
Finally some sensible residents went above the RWA to clear this mess and the so called school out of the society.

So,as Sushil ji and Reji ji say keep up the good work and clear any blocks which come in the way of peace.

Dear all,

Noise pollution is a major problem in India. The government of India has rules & regulations against firecrackers and loudspeakers, but enforcement is extremely lax; Awaaz Foudatuin an NGO working to control noise pollution from various sources through advocacy, public interest litigation, awareness, and educational campaigns since 2003. Despite increased enforcement and stringency of laws now being practised in urban areas, rural areas are still affected.

*******************

The Central Pollution Control Board constituted a Committee on Noise Pollution Control. The Committee recommended noise srandards for ambient air and for automobiles, domestic appliances and construction equipments, which were later notified in Environment(Protection) Rules,1986 as given below:-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
     Code Day time Night time
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      A Industrial area 75 70
      B Commercial area 65 55
      C Residential area 55 45
      D Silence Zone 50 40
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: 1.Day time is reckoned in between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
2.Night time is reckoned in between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
3.Silence zone is referred as areas upto 100 meters around such premises as hospitals, educational institutions and courts. The Silence zones are to be declared by the Competent Authority.
Use of vehicular horns, loudspeakers and bursting of crackers shall be banned in these zones.

Public Address System

  • License must be obtained by all parties intending to use loudspeakers or public address system for any occasion.
  • Public address system and loudspeakers should not be used at night between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. except in closed premises.
  • Loudspeakers should be directed at the audiences and not away from audience (i.e.not towards the neighbourhood).
  • Loudspeakers should not be allowed for advertisement and commercial activities.
  • The permitted strength of power amplifier should be just adequate to cover the audience, and noise level beyond the boundary limit of the noise source premises should not be increased by more than 5 dB(A) above the ambient noise level.
Above is taken from Ministry of Environment, GOI, New Delhi.

**************************

But surprisingly public at large is not aware of it and play loud music either in their room or PA system.  In case APS is  creating noise pollution, the same can be informed to authorities for remedial measures.
