I would like to make all aware that a business of stealing gas from sealed cylinders of gas company is going on in Dwarka. People do not check the weight and then complain that the gas is finished very soon.

the agency has advised me that you weigh the cylinder. Total weight should be 14.8 kg plus weight of the cylinder which is permanently painted on the cylinder.

If you find the total weight less than the above, write its actual weight on the voucher, show it to the person and keep the cylinder iiwithout paying any money. Then the things must improve.

Another important thing to check is the expiry of cylinder safety test. The expiry is marked as  e.g. 09/B. 09 is year and B means April to June. Similarly 10/D means Oct-Dec of 2010. If the date has expired, it is a dangerous cylinder. Please complain immediately.

If we look at the condition of cylinders of any agency when being carried by the delivery men or by going to the godown of any gas company, we will easily come across many cylinders which have out lived their lives and condition of such cylinders is very shabby and they are unusable.  Any such cylinder can be dangerous but the companies seems to have shut their eyes to this problem.  I want to know whether a consumer can refuse to take delivery of gas filled in dangerous and out-lived cylinders.

RTIs with all the companies, like Bharat Gas, HP, Indane etc. should be filed to know their plan for withdraw such cylinders from the circulation.  The other likely queries can be on the policy of the companies in this regard, names of the officers responsible for the replacement for different areas and monitoring system etc.

This is an important question which one should take.

Hi

We got IGL connection but I was always confused how one will measure
the weight of cyliner?. The spring balance with the cylinder person is
almost broken type and one can't rely on that.. And you can't expect a
lean thin fellow ( i always wonder how they lift that cylinder) to
keep the cylinder in his hands for a minute so that you can minutely
observe the same..

A solution can be a sort of big, sturdy spring balance at society gate
entrance and guard (or even purchaser) can come to society gate to get
that weighed correctly..

This practice is well known around Delhi I feel..

Krishna

1. There is no Time limit for LPG Gas booking.
2. Those who have IGL connection should surrender their LPG Gas Connection.

Hello all
today we received cylinder from Bharat gas. The cylinder weighed 25 kg.the cylinder weight was printed as 16.2 kg which meant the gas was only 8.8 kg instead of 14.8 kg for which we pay.
As advised by agency I kept the cylinder and voucher and did not pay. After three hours the same boy brought new cylinder with full gas.

Please find the address, email and phone of officers of Bharat Gas from the internet and lodge the complaint.  Kindly keep the underweight cylinder also as a proof by paying for that and giving some other empty cylinder.  The details of the Inspector and and officers must have been displayed at the office of the agency.

I can understand why Mr. Dhunta let them go so easily. In case we face the similar situation, what should be the step we take? This has to curb.

Hi all

I don't recall but I read some mail citing the codes on the cyliner
itself for the life of the cyliner. Its some code in month and year
format.. Can someone explain the same for everyone benefit so that one
can check that code in case the condition of cylinder is too bad..

Thanks
Krishna

To All

Have u ever heard about LPG cylinder's expire date. I also didn't know.

How to find LPG cylinder's expiry date?

Very important information.
Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for LPG
cylinders?

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this
regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor.
Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:
On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha
numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
A for March (First Qtr)
B for June (Second Qtr)
C for Sept (Third Qtr)
D for December (Fourth Qtr)

The digits stand for the year till it is valid.
Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.
Share this message with everyone you know, UR kind cooperation will save
life of many people and create awareness among the public.

Please do not accept the cylinder if the date has already expired.

.

"A" stands for the first quarter ie January to March and

"07" stands for the present year 2007.

We all were still confused with the terms used above.

A-07 indicates the expiry life of cylinder and not the GAS filled in it.

This cylinder should not be used and returned to the gas dealer.

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents.

ALL concerned should take necessary steps.
