Dear All,

This morning got little time to explore again to go neighbourhood of Dwarka..

With such lovely WEATHER... we drove along the Najafgarh Drain Forest.
Clue & Guide how to reach there..
From Dwarka Express Link Road(The road from Sector 21 underpass toward Najafgarh over the new DRAIN Ove road ) On reaching the BRIDGE after crossing take left drive towards BSF CHAWLA Camp.

This campus is NOT Open at the moment. DF will be raising with Minister Tourism Mr. Lovely and Delhi Govt so that Dwarkites will have a nice weekend or picnic location close to nature.

I would request fellow Dwarites take their family to this area and show around of Nature, Birds and even Neelghai etc.

Chhawla & Kanganheri Project
The Corporation identified two sites measuring 2.77 and 11.44 acres at Chhawla and Kanganheri on Najafgarh Drain respectively for setting up of Adventure Sports Complex and Eco Park with leisure facilities. Memorandum of Understanding is being finalised with Irrigation and Flood Department to transfer the land to DTTDC. The preparation of concept/design of the project is under process and soon after the approval of GNCTD. the project may go ahead with the preliminary work like Development of site and other services i.e. construction of boundary wall, earth work, levelling and dressing of site etc.
Special thanks to Kaushik and Sandeep for the company.

Regards,

Yes, it is not coming up as a promising one.
But once it opened it will give at least a minimum facilities to our Dwarkites and South West District citizens.

The boating others maybe a longer plan need to clean the water.

The Irrigation Department and others need to work hard.

Dear Mr. Banerjee

If all other activities will stop because we are not getting
water and we are living in Dwarka , it is a process and there
are many things still to be done by the Govt. agencies to name
a few , Hospital, Sports complex, Cinema , Vegetable markets etc.
If something is coming as a facility for entertainment I feel it should
be welcomed .

Its time for political leaders and political parties to throw promises which will (never) be filled. It is surprising that the Delhi Govt. Hospital neither a stretcher (structure) nor a wheel chair (civil) work has started. I visited the site on sunday (13.1.13) and felt pity on the apathetic attitude of Govt. towards the residents of Dwarka. This is just tip of the ice-berg.

Regret if hurts any sentiments. But Dwarka do not hv water to quench their thirst. Water Bodies are in bad shape. Water treatmnt yet to start operation. Thinking of water sports is just too much to.think of.

As far as the issue of water supply to Dwarka is concerned, I would like to draw attention to the fact that I have been staying in Dwarka since almost 10 years now, At the time there only used to be dust siwrls in Dwarka and very little to no rainfall at all.

The situation has improved over the years, which I believe is because of the sustained efforts of planting of plants which have grown into trees at many locations.

I see that now the plants are sowed in the parks which should mature into rain-brinigng trees in years to come.

Yes this is a slow process - but an efffective and the only method which can save and restore water for all...

Via this message I like to remind that each one of us MUST continue doing this cause - by planting at least one seed or plant each month and prevent cutting of trees whereever and whenever we can... I must congratulate the schools in Dwarka for making the children aware in this direction, and I personally know kids who OWN A TREE :)

It is our prime duty to teach the kids to follow these steps by ourselves initiating to do so ON WAR FOOTING

Thanks

Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi Sanstha planted about 1500 saplings in the year 2012  in Sector-22 only, having adopted it as a tradition to  start tree plantation drive each year from celebration of "World Environment Day" in the month of June and end it in September 2012 at their Annual Day Function. In absence of rain during June & July this year, members of the Sanstha themselves regularly watered the newly planted saplings. The irony was that water boosting pumps of the park were also out of order. The Sansth members also gave anti-termide treatment to the infected trees in Sector 22 & 23. During 2011 monsoon season about 750 saplings were planted and monitored by the Sanstha.

At least the social organizations/associations active in Dwarka can follow suit and set example.

There is doubt that plantation in Dwarka has considerably reduced the dust pollution beside fresh air.

The Green have increased- See some pictures of Sector 22 around our apartment.
However, UNFORTUNATELY not all socities and citizen are supporting it. I found some burn their society Green waste around these trees and literly have to douse it.
There are still over 50000 spots where in Dwarka we could add more tree, provided we get the DDA Horticulture to ACT by regular folllow up- As a large number of footpaths were left full covered not left the mandatory space for Trees to be planted. Some areas parks are in such condition difficult to beleive people stays around or not.

Coming back to subject... While the WATER and Hospital is Priority at the same time others also. If we say that if we dont get dont give road or metro will that be a solution ?
We need to puruse- as we are marginal voters. even today many among this group are not voter of Dwarka

Kindly help in sorting out a problem. In a DDA park all types of games have spoiled the green and damage trees. Although RTI has been filed will put up here.

Games like Hockey, Football, Cricket etc which spoil the greenery are not allowed in DDA parks but it is really difficult to stop the reckless people.

U can try tree plantation in the park with the help of DDA Horticulture Deptt in such a manner that no wide open space is left for playing such games. We have successfully tried it. May be that you have to wait till pre-monsoon season.

I am abroad and marking copy of this mail to Capt SS Mann of Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi Sanstha. I am sure he will  feel happy to help you in this regard. You can further contact him, if so desired.

As mentioned in my previos mail RTI has been filed. But of late DDA is not responding to RTI. Reason well known to  them. May be it expose their mis-adventure which is causing loss to exchequer.

Another follow up of DF brings some results.

Summary

The DTTDC has already constructed several toilets and bathrooms, especially for those who will stay in these tents.

For rides in hot air balloons and staying in tents by the riverside, Delhi residents will no longer have to venture outside the capital.

At Kanganheri in Southwest Delhi, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has developed an adventure park on a 14-acre green patch. The park has been named Haritima Island.

Equipped with facilities for hot air balloon flights and with plans to set up facilities for boating and riverside tents, the eco-tourism park is tipped to be a revenue driver for the corporation, an official said. The DTTDC plans to set up 12 air-conditioned tents along a water body in the middle of the adventure park. A night’s stay in these tents will cost between Rs 6,000 and Rs 6,500, the official said.

“The rent has been kept on the higher side as the number of tents is limited, but we believe people won’t mind shelling out that sum to get a feel of staying in a tent by the riverside,” the official said.

The DTTDC has already constructed several toilets and bathrooms, especially for those who will stay in these tents. Though the park was constructed six years ago, it will be inaugurated in the next three-four months. “Earlier, we did not get a good response to our tender for hot air balloon flights, but we hope to start it within three-four months,” the official said.

After balloon rides and tents, the corporation plans to introduce boating facilities. “It is a major draw at eco-tourism spots,” the official said.
The DTTDC is also planning to float tenders for sports such as cycling and rappelling too. To make it commercially successful, the DTTDC has set up a restaurant in the adventure park, which has been designed keeping in mind that residents of Delhi have little options when it comes to open spaces for adventure sports.
