Dear  friends

In my opinion at the route of all major problems facing our country be it corruption, squandering of national resources, wastage of tax payers money contributed by even the poorest of poor, shooting crime graph, insensitivity towards women, slow growth of science and technology (restricted to only a few areas) or neglect of our cultural strengths, lies an election process that allows grossly unsuitable, incompetent people to come into the governance and play havoc with the destiny of 1.2 billion people.

With the process of installing so called representatives of people in the parliament and state assemblies for another five years to decide the future of our country, once again underway, there is an urgent need of paying attention towards lacunas in our election process and put in concentrated efforts to rectify as many of them as possible, before we all go to the polling booths.

As a  citizen I have watched with concern this basic lever of our growth malfunctioning for long. I was also fortunate to be a part of the delegation led by Anna that met the CEC and other senior election commission officers in Nov 2012 to get an insight on the issue.

I have decided to do my bit in this respect.

I look forward to encouragement, guidance and joining in the efforts from Dwrkaits at this forum

As one of the steps in this direction we are planning a seminar on this issue to gather opinion and grasp the intricacies. We want to plan it in early June 2013.

We plan to have a meeting for this by next Sunday at 1700 hrs

Please send in your views and confirmation

Warm Regards

Dear Yashwant ji,

On right to recall, the same has been introduced in PAK. Let us witness its success there in today's election.  However, it is desirable.

Sir,
Problem cropped up when voters do not turn out to exercise their franchise. I have no idea what is the percentage of voting in Dwarka but it seems to be very low. No doubt Election Reform is very urgent to stop tainted candidates from contesting election. But all the buck stops as they are Accused and not proved. There is  paucity of clean candidates, as per present trend money and muscle power play the election game.

The issue with right to recall and right not to elect any one is that - if you exercise this right, then - by default - the sitting ministers continue, Instead of they being removed and president rule being established

So both of these are merely an eyewash

Not right to recall but option of rejecting to all the candidates in the polls has been introduced there.  I checked my mail and wonder on my confusion. I am sorry Yashwant ji.
