MCD to start anti-littering drive in new year

New Delhi

An anti-littering drive, a public awareness campaign and upgrading of waste disposal mechanism?civic authorities are adopting a three-pronged plan in the new year for a'clean Delhi' before the Commonwealth Games 2010.

To crack down on littering and urinating in public places, civic inspectors will be deployed in various parts of the city who will also have the power to impose on-the-spot fines, an MCD official said.

"A circular has been issued in this regard last week," he said adding, the civic agency will adopt a"three-pronged strategy" as part of its cleanliness drive.

"We will soon launch a campaign to educate public about keeping the city clean. Along with this, we will take measures for development of waste disposal infrastructure,"he said.A similar anti-littering campaign was launched in China before the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will launch the much-awaited door-to-door garbage collection scheme in the coming year. In the first phase, tenders are being invited for Civil Lines, Rohini, Vasant Kunj and Dwarka.

The civic body will also install more garbage bins. Dustbins of 1000-litre capacity are proposed to be put up at markets and other busy areas.

The maintenance of urinal blocks at markets, bus stops and religious places are being handed over to private sector. Community toilet complexes are being handed over for production of compost, which will be used in municipal gardens.

Really good news. Govt needs to install more properly maintained toilets, so that people do not have to urinate at other places. Govt should not follow the CNG example. Got all commercial vehicles converted to CNG with a very few filling stations. Today also I see long waiting lines in front of these filling stations.

Provide adequate facilities and then enforce laws.

Govt. is doing its bit to improve situation in Delhi.  The only thing that the staff carry out
these projects in a corruptionfree manner specially on the front of purchase and deployment of staff.  Public should co-operate for the success of these projects such as door to door garbage collection.

Dear Mr Gupta,

Nice to read about the latest drive, May I submit that we must take
immidiate action on the people who are spoiling the complete Car
parking area in front sec 6 Market, by urinating in open specially the
shop owners / workers of shops.

Secondly one corner of the Car parking area is being occupied by the
flower vendors and by degree he his encroaching further day by day.

Thirdly open space in between Navin Appartment and Open drainage is
being used by all workers residing in Madhu vihar etc for morning
purpose which is free for all.

Hope you will take care of the above or inform concerned authorities..

Thanks

Even if 10% of MCD's announcements were put into action, Delhi would
have been a much better place to live.

Will anybody tell me at least five good things done by MCD in Dwarka
during the last one year?

Sweeping and Sanitation is the basic work of any Municipal Body. The
situation in Dwarka is known to everybody.

As far as the work of MCD is concerned, I live in pessimism.

yes Mr. Thomas,
they have given as many 100 of License to eating outlets without
respecting basic rules..
So dwarkites have eating place. so are we not thankfull to MCD ?

Jokes apart..
MCD mean...call it "Meaning of Corruption in Dictionery" "Municipality
of Corruption in Delhi". I am sure many desire to add correct it .

MCD have no major role in Dwarka.except 4-5 items.

1st and foremost for themis to collect the property tax for which
Dwarka is stand one of the tope tax collection for MCD.
Unfortunately our RWA/Federations are not puttting pressure or their
pressure are not enough to return of services in lie of taxes.

2. Sweepeing and cleaing.

3. Health Services such as Anti Malaria Drive/ Dengue Fogging / Issue
of certificate to resturents and eating outlets.

4. Few DDA Pockets are handed over to MCD for maintenance resulting
substand work or no work.

It depend upon how the RWA bodies put pressure at individual level and
by groups.
All of us need to act at individual level and by groups.

Dear All,
Since we notice there is lacking public facilities in Dwarka, filed an RTI to find correct info.
Please see attached reply from MCD Najafgah zone, We are not surprised not a single urinals constructed by MCD. They only concerned with collection of Property Tax?
It is also found misleading that no request or propsal from RWA received, we have written time and again for Public facilities. We will be filing appeal cum complaint as per RTI provisions.

Appreciate respective RWA/CGHS take up with MCD for urinal in respective sectors ASAP.

If any response pleae comment with suggestion and concerted action you have.

Following complaints and correspondence below:
The MCD have last week acted on our representation and grievances.
They started keeping new Garbage bins in GREEN Color build on Iron
A new agency started working its details are :
Delhi MSW Solutions Ltd  (Delhi Municipal Solid Waste solutions Ltd)
You may contact Mr. Anurag Kumar Area Manager - 9211783603 /011-47502291-98 for any compliants or in case required more garbage bins.
Also seek email anura...@ramky.com www. ramky.com

We have requested them to give clear identification of each garbage bin by its location.

They would also be in touch with CGHS and RWA management for DOOR TO DOOR COLLECTION.
Initially it may begin with DDA pockets as CGHS have already private doort to door collection(?).
The MCD sanitaiton also contacted last week concerning construction of Urinals and permanent disposal for solid construction/repair waste from socities/flats etc.

For the same we need URGENTLY the following:

A letter from your society/RWA  management to Dy. Commissioner, MCD Najafgarh requesting the proposed ideal location in each sector and markets. If the letter could be given to MCD before Saturday they may be able to send to Commissioner to follow-up with DDA for necessary allotment of land in each sector.

We awaits cooperation from Dwarkites in this regard

Dear Sir, As our President mentioned about basic amnesties, it is very disappointing that MCD being one of the oldest civic bodies, its process of garbage pickup and disposal is not streamlined in Dwarka or not being followed by MCD officials. People are forced to use sidewalks/empty plots to throw garbage with the lack of MCD infrastructure which invites all sort of health problems and looks nasty.

Based on our several discussions with MCD ground staff, it looks like there is a lack of good infrastructure like convenient attendance system, office space, training, counseling, latest technology and manpower shortage for MCD staff.

We NOT ONLY need Dwarka neat and clean per our high expectations but also a flawless quality control system, set people responsible for their jobs or a quick action against them in case of any negligence. We do not want to compromise with even a single lane being uncleaned any given day and garbage litter for rag pickers. MCD needs to exceed our expectations by introducing world class technology to keep city clean.

I think a good way to start this is to setup a meeting with us (Dwarka Forum), who have over 2000 members and media partners to represent Dwarka from various sectors and DDA pockets. We certainly have ideas that we can share.

Appreciate your quick reply.

Personal Attn: K S Mehra, Commissioner  MCD.

Sir,

I hope your staffs will putup this email before you.

Its national shame that we talk and advertisment about anti littering drive etc.

To find facts in Dwarka the so called master plan Sub-City we filed an RTI appliction with your Najafgarh Zone.

Do you have any idea ? THERE IS NOT SINGLE URINAL BUILD by MCD in any of the Sectors.

I dont need to tell MCD officials the amount of property tax collected from over 5 Lakh+ residents, Do I  ?

Now come to sanitation, you may recall our numerous emails and even had interaction with Hon. Councillor for the area. We are loosing our patience dealing with you DEMS HQ staffs and NGZ. Do you suggest we take the route of courts to get our basic rights and services that MCD obliged to give to Dwarka ?

Not a single GARBAGE/DUST Bins replaced/added/provided..The garbage are piled up on grounds and shattered around.

If any epidemic or disaster for flight as birds are regularly causing damage to flights over Dwarka on record, who will be held responsible?

I am sure you will take this issue very firmly with your building department and sanitation team and others.

If you require any further information or our assistance or require a meeting in your chamber, we would be happy.

We humbly request you, please help Dwarkites to live in neat and hygene environment.
