New Delhi
An anti-littering drive, a public awareness campaign and upgrading of waste disposal mechanism?civic authorities are adopting a three-pronged plan in the new year for a'clean Delhi' before the Commonwealth Games 2010.
To crack down on littering and urinating in public places, civic inspectors will be deployed in various parts of the city who will also have the power to impose on-the-spot fines, an MCD official said.
"A circular has been issued in this regard last week," he said adding, the civic agency will adopt a"three-pronged strategy" as part of its cleanliness drive.
"We will soon launch a campaign to educate public about keeping the city clean. Along with this, we will take measures for development of waste disposal infrastructure,"he said.A similar anti-littering campaign was launched in China before the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will launch the much-awaited door-to-door garbage collection scheme in the coming year. In the first phase, tenders are being invited for Civil Lines, Rohini, Vasant Kunj and Dwarka.
The civic body will also install more garbage bins. Dustbins of 1000-litre capacity are proposed to be put up at markets and other busy areas.
The maintenance of urinal blocks at markets, bus stops and religious places are being handed over to private sector. Community toilet complexes are being handed over for production of compost, which will be used in municipal gardens.
Govt. is doing its bit to improve situation in Delhi. The only thing that the staff carry out
these projects in a corruptionfree manner specially on the front of purchase and deployment of staff. Public should co-operate for the success of these projects such as door to door garbage collection.

Dear Sir, As our President mentioned about basic amnesties, it is very disappointing that MCD being one of the oldest civic bodies, its process of garbage pickup and disposal is not streamlined in Dwarka or not being followed by MCD officials. People are forced to use sidewalks/empty plots to throw garbage with the lack of MCD infrastructure which invites all sort of health problems and looks nasty.
Based on our several discussions with MCD ground staff, it looks like there is a lack of good infrastructure like convenient attendance system, office space, training, counseling, latest technology and manpower shortage for MCD staff.
We NOT ONLY need Dwarka neat and clean per our high expectations but also a flawless quality control system, set people responsible for their jobs or a quick action against them in case of any negligence. We do not want to compromise with even a single lane being uncleaned any given day and garbage litter for rag pickers. MCD needs to exceed our expectations by introducing world class technology to keep city clean.
I think a good way to start this is to setup a meeting with us (Dwarka Forum), who have over 2000 members and media partners to represent Dwarka from various sectors and DDA pockets. We certainly have ideas that we can share.
Appreciate your quick reply.

Personal Attn: K S Mehra, Commissioner MCD.
Sir,
I hope your staffs will putup this email before you.
Its national shame that we talk and advertisment about anti littering drive etc.
To find facts in Dwarka the so called master plan Sub-City we filed an RTI appliction with your Najafgarh Zone.
Do you have any idea ? THERE IS NOT SINGLE URINAL BUILD by MCD in any of the Sectors.
I dont need to tell MCD officials the amount of property tax collected from over 5 Lakh+ residents, Do I ?
Now come to sanitation, you may recall our numerous emails and even had interaction with Hon. Councillor for the area. We are loosing our patience dealing with you DEMS HQ staffs and NGZ. Do you suggest we take the route of courts to get our basic rights and services that MCD obliged to give to Dwarka ?
Not a single GARBAGE/DUST Bins replaced/added/provided..The garbage are piled up on grounds and shattered around.
If any epidemic or disaster for flight as birds are regularly causing damage to flights over Dwarka on record, who will be held responsible?
I am sure you will take this issue very firmly with your building department and sanitation team and others.
If you require any further information or our assistance or require a meeting in your chamber, we would be happy.
We humbly request you, please help Dwarkites to live in neat and hygene environment.
