RTI activist gives ‘bribe’ CD to Speaker

A Right to Information activist has submitted a video CD to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, in which a BJP Lok Sabha MP has been allegedly shown receiving cash and in return promising land to a private party. RTI activist Dev Ashish Bhattacharya submitted the controversial “cash-on-camera” CD, to the Speaker on April 27 and sought an impartial probe into the matter.
He requested the Speaker to reopen the case which had not been properly investigated by concerned agencies.
The CD was obtained by him under the RTI Act along with complete details of the case probed by the police.
He alleged that the RTI information revealed holes in the investigation. The police did not send the CD for forensic examination to establish its genuineness and also MP’s voice samples were not taken to match with the voice in the CD, he alleged.
Bhattacharya added the police failed to carry out even the basics of the procedure of investigation and there was no hope of an impartial inquiry He requested the Speaker to get the CD examined in a forensic lab and thereafter initiate an inquiry against the MP as per the provisions of the law.

With such type of activism by the social spiritied citizen, corruption and illegal activivies can be controlled to some extent and the fear of law can be instilled among the persons who tread law comtemptously.
