CGHS scam: Six arrested, sent to custody [ 12 Sep, 2006 2158hrs IST PTI ] RSS Feeds| SMS NEWS to 8888 for latest updates NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded six persons arrested in connection with Rs 4000 crore Co-operative Group Housing Society (CGHS) scam to a day's CBI custody. The six accused - MN Sharma, MC Joshi, Gopal Singh Bisht, Rajender Kumar Khurana, Surender Singh and Naveen Kaushik arrested on Monday - were produced before the court of Special Judge SK Kaushik who sent them to CBI remand until Wednesday. The six are accused of fraudulent revival of Residents' Provident Fund (RPF) Co-operative Group Hosing Society in Dwarka in south-west Delhi, on the basis of allegedly forged and fabricated documents in 2001. According to CBI, they even forged signatures of dead persons and enlisted new members in the society against fake registrattion letters. Meanwhile, the court also granted bail to three accused Gokul Chand Aggarwal, Anil Kumar and Vinod Kumar in similar cases pertaining to four different housing societies. The modus operandi allegedly followed by the accused was to fraudulently revive societies which had been declared "defunct" by their founder-members, primarily to get land alloted by the DDA at concessional rates.
