Hi All,

We recently completed individual water metering in two societies in Dwarka, Sanghamitra, Plot no-20, Sector-4 and R. D. Apartment, Plot no-20, Sector-6.

Sanghamitra CGHS is issuing meter based water bills since Feb 2014 for individual flats and R. D. Apartment has issued their first bill of water usage based on the metering reading on June 1, 2014.

The feedback we received, shows that both the Societies has started reducing overall water consumption of the society as compared to the consumption of water for the same months in last 3 years. The result will further improve with the months to come as people will further reduce the water wastage & control water usage...

Reduction of water wastage and bills on consumption basis is a main intent of this project. We are very happy to see our client satisfied with our unique water metering system.

Just thought to share this achievement.

Dear Friends,

In the year 2010 I being Hony. Secretary of Rajasthan CGHS, Sec-4, Dwarka got water meter installed in all 216 flats. The result we got thereafter was really amazing for the society and specially for the Members of Managing Committee, who were seen restless in the summers due to whooping cost of water, supplied through tankers. You will be happy to know that after water metering in the Society the consumption has been reduced to 1.5 lakhs liters per day from earlier requirement of 2.5 lakhs liters per day when there was no water metering. In our society water availability is 24 X 7 since installation of water meter and residents are quite happy. Earlier there were quarrels about the payment of water charges per flat @ 900/- per month due to different family size.

In view of the acute shortage of water I always support and suggest the residents/ Managing Committee Members to make water metering mandatory for all Societies. Even being a sensible person one should always try to save precious water for our future generations.

Singh sahab u r absolutely right. Things are to be seen in right perspective. Fixing an amount entails an individual to spent unlimited quantity of water. Billing helps in curtailing & judicious use of water. As every drop counts.

Dear Friends,

I stay in Som Apartments and am also facing the same problem of being charged per family members and water bills are really very high. I need some help on the approximate cost per flat for installing the individual water meters as that is the only way to reduce wastage of water and reduce our monthly water expenses. I will initiate discussion with my management committee based on the cost per flat. Can someone please advise?

Regards,

Aashish

Namaskar to all

It is good to have individual meter to stop water wastage similarly we should have meter in all DDA Flats, Govt Offices and all houses in delhi It can be installed in phase mannered by DJB or DDA with help of PPP.

I fail to understand as to why the authorities like DDA, Jal Board,  Municipality, etc. do not make it mandatory for installation of water meters.  Water can be saved to a great extent, if all residents install water meters.  There should be a penalty clause for those not installing water meters.

I suppose all societies have meter installed within their premises, its the bulk meter measuring the total water supply. Beside this tankers charges are there. As majority of Societies have UG tanks that needs to be pumped to the individual / block over head tanks.
The issue under consideration is of individual meter which can measure individual consumption per flat. This option is with the Management of the Society if they have their individual meter installed per flat or not. Its mandatory for every connection to have a meter installed.

Dear Mr. Gupta,
Raising water bill based on per family member is neither a logical nor scientific method. This is a very crude method and should not be adopted. My suggestion would be that you have a primary discussion in your society with the members and Managing committee and let them know about having individual Metering, which most of the societies in Dwarka and elsewhere are Opting. In addition to this I would request you to connect us with your Society Managing Committee to whom we shall be happy to present and discuss the benefits of our solutions and drawbacks of the current approach been followed in your society.

Ankur

Dear Aashish,

We are glad to know that you are interested in knowing about water metering, which is best way to raise water bills as per water consumption by individual flat.
The cost of implementing this system is completely dependent on the site conditions. We would be interested in meeting you and explaining it in detail.
Request you to share your contact details.

Regards
Ankur
