NEW DELHI: To help increase ridership on airport line of Delhi metro, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has now allowed passengers coming from Dwarka to go to the airport line without coming out of the station.
Earlier, passengers had to come out of the Dwarka Sector 21 station to go to the airport line stop.
But the passengers will have to go through the security check again as the standards of frisking on airport express line are different from the remaining network of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). “Considering the time taken during interchange, it was decided to allow passengers to go straight to airport line. Mostly the passengers travelling between Dwarka and Central Delhi use airport line to reach their destinations quickly. We had noticed that due to the long walk for interchange, passengers tend to avoid taking airport metro. But by shifting the current structure, we hope to attract more passengers on the airport line,” said a senior CISF official, requesting anonymity.
But the changes have been made without compromising with the security and passengers will be frisked again when they enter the premises of New Delhi-Dwarka line. “At the airport express line, we follow the guidelines of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the security procedure is almost comparable to the standards of those applicable at the airport. So, the passengers coming from Dwarka line will have to go through the security drill again,” the official added.
CISF had earlier allowed the passengers to go to Dwarka line from airport line by creating space at the station.
