Concerned Department: Delhi Traffic Police.

In Dwarka there is not even a single zebra crossing painted correctly. There are guidelines to follow while painting these, as contained in publications issued by UTTIPEC & Indian Road Congress. However, it appears no one in DDA has bothered to know about these.  In addition to several other difficulties posed by these wrong paintings, the traffic police continues to issue challans to vehicles not adhering to these incorrect paintings. A number of letters sent to DDA in this regard have gone into deaf ears. As a thumb rule the zebra crossing need to be painted after traffic pole and the circumference of all four sides on an intersection should be least possible for pedestrians to move. DDA officers have not been able to exhibit their understanding to these basic rules and correct the oversight.

To prevent further inconvenience and unjust penalties, it is requested that the Delhi Traffic Police be instructed to temporarily suspend issuing challans for crossing stop lines. This suspension should remain in effect until DDA undertakes the necessary work to repaint all zebra crossings in Dwarka in strict compliance with the established guidelines.
