Dear friends : A friend of mine has been told by a bank to submit legal heir certificate in connection with some work in that bank. Can some one inform me as to - from where this certificate can be had, what is the procedure for getting the same and what are the formalities attached with it and how long it will take to get this certificate ?

Mr Bhardwaj,
It appears that there is a communication gap between the teller and the listener. The Certificate which the Bank can ask is to bring a Succession Certificate, which can be procured by filing an application before the Administrative Civil Judge of a District Courts claiming the amount lying in the Bank. At present if the amount lying in the bank is huge then the Bank can ask for bringing the Succession Certificate. In this respect at the moment Banks have their different policies and norms.
