JOB OPPORTUNITY

Title: Events Assistant (temporary)

Location: Ottawa

Immediate Supervisor: Stakeholder Relations & Events Manager

Salary: 25-28$ per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Short term contractor (2 months, full-time) - starting as soon as possible in February 2021.

Note that this is a temporary, non-unionized contract. Full professional competence is required in both of Canada’s official languages.

About the Job

At Cooperation Canada, we play a critical convening role. We bring together our members, experts and broad stakeholders through many events large and small to advance sector knowledge and foster policy dialogue. From front line humanitarian workers and charity CEOs to international VIPs and political leaders, our events are one of the principal ways in which we interact with our stakeholders. We take great pride in delivering quality events that meet the needs of our members. During these pandemic times, our events are virtual, which has made them more inclusive and accessible to our members.

In this role, you will work directly with Cooperation Canada team members and event partners, and occasionally work with volunteers to ensure the successful delivery of all aspects of the events you support the team with. You’ll help develop workplans and tasklists leading up to events, set up systems to support registration, ensure smooth logistics, mobilize staff in support roles, and many more tasks you’ll remind the team it needs.

 

What we’re looking for

You are an incredibly organized individual that has a keen eye for details. You love structure and well-planned processes. You are well-versed in technology and spreadsheets are your friend. You know or are willing to learn everything there is to know about Zoom, Asana, Mentimeter, Canva or the next best tool. An interest in international development or experience in our sector would be an incredible asset as you’d understand what our members needs.

 

Skills & Abilities

·       Previous experience in events planning, logistics and/or administration;

·       Full working proficiency in French and English (MANDATORY – will be tested);

·       Some familiarity with Contact Management Systems (Neon, or others) and Direct Marketing (MailChimp, or others);

·       Excellent customer service and reputation for calm under stress;

·       Strong organizational skills;

·       Punctual and professional;

·       Great communication skills;

·       Strong team player who works well independently.
