I've been sending heaps of emails that apparently never got through
because of the mail alias.. guh.

Should have checked here sooner.

I'm working on makefile stuff and consolidating all source into 'src'

currently have src/tools/<eachtool> and a Makefile that supports them.

Uncovered some source sync issues with a couple of the tools that I'm
hoping to resolve, looks like one of them has a static copy of
Particle.cpp with a little difference..

Having spent more time with the code, refactoring doesn't seem as
daunting now. I'm not sure how much you care about that but it's a big
one for me.

Also, I realized since you've not used exceptions in the code (I
grep'd for try and couldn't find any), we could compile with -fno-
exceptions and get a generous speed increase.

Sorry I've been AWOL... This week has been uber-busy for me.

src/tools/<eachtool> sounds good!

The tool that has a distinct Particle.cpp can be allowed to fail to compile. Given that it's my blunder, it's my obligation to take care of that. Which isn't to say you shouldn't tackle it if you're so inclined, but I've got you covered there, if you'd rather work on other things.

Very good call on -fno-exceptions!! Please go ahead and add that to the Makefile if you haven't already!
