DVD-10, holds around 8.75 GB. DVD+R/DVD+RW and DVD-R/DVD-RW supports
this format. Also called Double Sided Single Layered.
So this would be the one, I dont recommend DVD+R formats

DVD-9, holds around 7.95 GB. DVD+R supports this format. Also called
Single Sided Dual Layered. This media is called DVD+R9, DVD+R DL or 8.5
GB Media.

DVD-18, holds around 15.9 GB. DVD+R supports this format. Also called
Double Sided Dual Layered.

To be Honest I agree with Dan Quist.
I never use them but my understanding of DVD-10 is that you need to
flip them over to play other side. You might as well use 2 cheaper
DVD-5 discs ( 4.7G ) or the DVD-9 Dual Layered. although I believe you
cant get DVD-R in dual layered and DVD+R is not as universally
compatible with all Players.
I buy DVD-R 4.7G discs for about 40 cents each that I never have a
problem with.
If you want to get more than 2 hours video without Loss on a 4.7G disc
you can cheat a bit on Audio compression. Maybe get 2 hrs 20 mins with
Video quality loss.

Hi There,
It depends on where you are from, if you live in the uk the
bigpockets have some cheap but reliable dual layer media, I'd recomment
the tuff disc so long as you dont mind having branded media and they
are only £2.49 each

Instead of spending so much now, I'd stick with cheaper technology and
then when Blue-ray or HD-DVD come out, get that. Those will hold a lot
more, between 15 and 30 GB.

the problem with that is that a BD recorder is going to be mighty
expensive when they come out, along with the BD disks. can you remember
how expensive dvd players and recorders were when they first came out?
