This year we are inaugurating an event which we hope will become a long-running feature at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival - a "Kid's Academy", similar to those offered by a number of other major festivals. This gives kids ages 6 - 18 an opportunity to receive professional training in bluegrass instrumentation and performance (this year, mandolin, fiddle and guitar - no banjo or bass - yet), culminating in a special main stage showcase on Sunday morning. The instructor for this year's debut Academy will be Ira Gitlin, a former National Banjo champion (and former "Jeopardy!" champ). Full details about this can be found on our festival website at:
http://www.delawarevalleybluegrass.org/academy2010.phpAlong the same lines, "Todd's Musical Zoo" will be on the grounds all weekend to give kids of all ages the chance to look at and play a wide variety of interesting instruments. Face painting for kids will be available all day Friday, and our scheduled kid's stage performers this year include return appearances by magician Chris Capehart and the Give & Take Jugglers.
It's all only a couple of days away!
