Welcome, and thanks to the first couple of dozen of you who have signed up for our Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival mailing list. We'll try not to bombard you with mail, and hold it to just the information and updates you need to know. We hope you'll understand, though, when we alert you to events and happenings promoted by some of our sister organizations in the region that we think our audience would have genuine interest in. Mostly, though, what you'll get from us via this list will be about bluegrass in general, and our festival in particular.

The first item of business we want to bring to your attention - and clarify - is this: we have received a number of reports that other websites who have linked to ours (which we deeply appreciate) are publicizing the dates of our festival this year as August 28 - 30...THIS IS *NOT* CORRECT!!

Since our very first year in 1972, our festival has ALWAYS been held on Labor Day Weekend, i.e., the full weekend preceding the Labor Day holiday, the first Monday in September. This year, that holiday is the latest it can possibly be - Monday, September 7 - so therefore, the CORRECT DATES for our festival this year are FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 THROUGH SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6.

In checking around, we have found a couple of likely sources for the confusion:

1) Many people seem to assume that the regular weekend for our festival is the last full weekend in August. As stated above, this is not technically correct, although in many years it does coincide with that weekend.

2) For many years, our festival was always the weekend immediately following the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and we get a fair number of people who attend both our festival and theirs. A few years ago, they altered their schedule and moved their festival up, on a schedule that, in most years, puts them 2 weekends ahead of us. However, technically, they are now the *2nd* full weekend in August (Aug. 14-16 this year), and because this year there are 5 full weekends in August, there are *3 full weeks* between us and Philly Folk - and this appears to be the source of some confusion.

So, for any of your friends or family who bring up this confusion that's going around, please set them straight, and feel free to direct them to our festival website at www.delawarevalleybluegrass.org or our general festival email address at in...@delawarevalleybluegrass.org.

Thanks, see you in September,
