We wanted to take a few moments to let you know of some changes in our
ticketing operations, including changes in pricing for this year.
While the state of the economy in the last couple of years has tended to
keep costs rising all the way around, the single greatest expense we face in
promoting the festival is, of course, the fees we pay to the
nationally-known performers we bring in for you to enjoy at the festival,
and we continue to hear from you that our lineup is, year in and year out,
the best around. Especially in the past decade, bluegrass performers have
achieved wider acclaim and exposure in general, and this has caused the fees
they can command to rise even above the nominal rate of inflation. Although
we feel we've been very diligent at holding our ticket prices in line in the
face of these rising costs, we have felt it necessary to make some modest
adjustments for 2011:
WEEKEND TICKETS:
Adult: $75.00 Advance/$90.00 Gate
Senior (62 & over): $70.00 Advance/$75.00 Gate
Students (12-18): $40.00 Advance/$45.00 Gate
FRIDAY, SEPT. 2:
Adult: $45.00
Senior (62 & over): $40.00
Students: $25.00
SATURDAY, SEPT. 3:
Adult: $45.00
Senior (62 & over): $40.00
Students: $25.00
SUNDAY, SEPT. 4:
Adult: $35.00
Senior (62 & over): $30.00
Students: $20.00
For the 40th straight year, though, Weekend ticket holders may still camp on
the grounds at no extra charge. Even with these changes, we still believe we
provide unparalleled "bang for the buck" when it comes to music and
entertainment.
SENIORS: Please note that our long-standing discount for those 62 and over
has actually been increased for this year!
Another change that will help offset the increases shown above is that we
are now running our advance sales through a new ticketing company, Ticket
Derby (www.ticketderby.com). Here's what that means for you:
* In contrast to our previous company, Ticket Derby imposes a surcharge of
only $1 per ticket purchased, so that a typical online order through them of
2 weekend tickets will result in only $2 of additional charges, as opposed
to the $7 or more with our previous company
* Ticket Derby delivers your tickets to you nearly instantaneously VIA
EMAIL! Once your order is confirmed, your ticket(s) is/are emailed to you to
print out and bring to the gate with you. Each ticket contains a unique
barcode for scanning at the gate to ensure authenticity.
* For those of you who plan to purchase your tickets at the gate, Ticket
Derby provides us the capability to allow you to pay via credit card onsite
