Hi I am trying to use my DVXplorer S Duo for the first time and I am having some trouble.

DAVIS ID-0 Failed to open device, no matching device could be found or opened.
capture moduleInit(): 'std::runtime_error :: Failed to open USB device, id=0, type=4, busNumber=0, devAddress=0, serialNumber=.', disabling module.

I saw others already faced similar problem and tried their solution but doesn't seem to work on my case. In Flashy there is no device I can select and nothing is activated in the right input selection tab under capture. Hope someone can help me out.

The S DUO is a network camera and needs to be accessed differently, as outlined in its manual:
Please read through the manual carefully to be aware of the limitations of that model.
Thank you and have a great week!

Hi thanks for your reply.
However I already tried what the manual says. I connected S DUO to a trendnet(PoE+) for the power supply and also connected S DUO to my computer with usb cable.
Then I tried sudo ./usb-internet.sh and followed instructions below.

Open the GUI, in the top menu select “Connect to”, in the resulting drop-down menu disable “Manage local runtime instances”, the greyed out “Connect to remote runtime…” will then become available. Select it and in the ensuing pop-up enter the following parameters:

  • IP Address: 192.168.55.1

  • Port: 4040

Finally, click on Connect.

The same error still comes up and says no device are connected.
I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.
Thanks,
SR Choi

OK, that sounds like you're doing the right steps.
Is the S DUO actually turning on? There's a green LED in the back that should turn on after ~5-10 seconds of attaching power, does it turn on and stay on?
Does your Linux OS find any device? The commands 'sudo dmesg -T' and 'lsusb -v' are useful to see if a USB Network device is discovered when the S DUO turns on. Windows is not supported!

Alternatively, you can also try via Ethernet instead of USB. Just attach the data port of the Trendnet POE injector to your network switch (if allowed by your company). Then attach power. The S DUO should then get an IP address via DHCP, which you can then use to connect. You can use commands like 'avahi-discover-standalone' to find out the IP address (or look in your router's configuration).

Hope this helps, have a nice day!
