Our next meeting will be in the Boothzaal[1,2] in the Utrecht University library.

We will have two talks:
  • Jurriën Stutterheim - Building JavaScript Applications with Haskell
  • Sebastiaan Visser - Functional Programming at Silk[3]

As usual, we'll go to The Basket[4] afterwards. Unfortunately, it closes at 21:00. So, let's try to start the talks promptly at 19:00 and finish at 20:00 to give us some time to drink and socialize. The Cambridgebar[5] might be open from 21:00 (though I haven't confirmed this) if you want to go there after leaving The Basket.

Regards,
Sean

[1] After entering the library, it's halfway up the stairs (on the mezzanine level) and on the left.

Hi there,
I'm excited to see that a new meeting is planned.

I have some questions though. The previous meeting I attented did not include any talks. Is there a particular reason for including talks or not?
Also, I hardly saw any replies to the posting of the meetings. Do we have any idea how crowded it will be?

I'll see you there,
Remy.

Hi Remy,

I have some questions though. The previous meeting I attented did not include any talks. Is there a particular reason for including talks or not?

It's usually just a matter of somebody planning the meeting and arranging for speakers. I thought this would be a good chance for the summer school students to meet people in our group and to see additional aspects of the FP world.

Also, I hardly saw any replies to the posting of the meetings. Do we have any idea how crowded it will be?

I'm pretty sure it won't be very crowded. If all 26 (or so) students come, it might be one of the larger meetings we've had. Nevertheless, the Boothzaal is quite large and will accommodate everybody.

Regards,
Sean

Hello,

You can count me in too.

Do you know if there are regular buses from the university to the central train station after 9? I guess so, but I prefer to ask, as I'll have to take the train back to Delft, and the University is a bit far from the center (not that it would do any harm to walk a bit of course).

Yes there are buses. They'll run until 5 to 1 am. They will only run each 15/20 minutes however.

Thanks both of you for the information. I'll print the buses schedule.

See you on wednesday,
Adrien
