Hi all,

the next Java Meetup is scheduled for Friday October 30. Location
still to be confirmed.

We have one speaker already for a 20-something minute talk, but are
still looking for another speaker.

If you have anything interesting that you want to share with the rest
of the Java Development community, please let us know.

As always, we don't only have talks, but also plenty of beer, wine and
other drinks.

Mark your agenda and again, more info will follow.

cheers,
Alef

Hi Alef,

als je nog een praatje over Software Transactional Memory wilt :)

ik ben afgelopen jaar bezig met multiverse:

Dus ik weet het een en ander er van af.

Hi Hasan,

my bad, I shouldn't have replied in Dutch.

My presentation can be done in Dutch, English or in't Grunnings (you
don't want to know).

But a presentation needs to be selected first (doesn't have to be mine).

Hi all,

the meetup has been scheduled and confirmed next October 30th and will
be held in Rain, on the Rembrandt Square. More details on JTeam's
blog - http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/09/25/amsterdam-java-meetup-october-30th-rain-amsterdam/

And please spread the word. The more people the merrier!

Peter, I'd like to take you up on your offer to do a presentation. The
idea is to keep 'em sweet and short. 20 minutes, 30 max.

Could you get me a little bit more of a description for the session?

cheers and have a great weekend!

Alef

Hi Alef,

cool!

Title:
Why STM?

Description:
STM's are getting more and more momentum and in this session I want to explain
some of the basic concepts of STM's without going in too deep on the technical
content and language specific details. The basic concepts include
failure atomicity,
isolation but also lesser but equal important concepts like the
retry/orelse mechanism.

Is this sufficient?

I'm going to keep it practical and am not going to make it an academic
presentation.
So something that can be understood while the listeners are drinking beer :)

Alef, I'm doing a presentation at Devoxx about Google App Engine for
Java. I'm building an app for the presentation, implemented using
RESTful Spring MVC with Spring JDO, again in Spring JSF, and again in
GWT and maybe in Grails (time allowing). I'd love to show it and
explain any appengine specific issues at the meetup if there's time:

Devoxx Talk Abstract:

Live deployed app (what there is so far):
