Just thought I would share my experience of going out to Drop Zone and playing in the tournament out there.
Registration was at 11 and the event had a start time of 12. I had to leave by 4:30 as I had a work party to go to last night. I got there at about 11:15 and got to know the guys out there. They basically bitch about the same things we do. They are hoping Battle FRont does not flub the whole thing.
The Tournament Organizer ran the DDI Organized play format. He pre decided the Battle Builder for each round. Players would all play the same scenario each round. The format was that each round players had to play a different opponent and a different table. There was no matching.
I ran the list that I have been playing for the most part.
That is
Panzer Platoon:
CMD: Panzer Prince 24
+1 Sturm Prinz 45
1st Sect: Luther 30
2nd Sect: Luther 30
Support: Der Adler 45
BlutKreuz Platoon
CMD: Achilles Sigrid 24
1st: Brain Eaters 24
2nd Heilig Tod 22
Support: Nacht Jaeger 55
299 Points
First round I faced an AXIS player. He was running Manfred in Schwer Armor, Heavy Recon Gs, Flak Gs, 2 units of Battle Gs with the additional Panzer Schrek upgrade and command troop, 2 Flamm Luthers and Angela with Snipers.
The scenario was symbolic victory.
In my list design, my biggest fears were basically a horde of Phasers Weapons, Fireball Drop or Angela with Snipers.
I lost my first Luther in the first order phase and it went on like that from there. By Turn three all I had left were Sigrid in the Nacht Jaeger and Zombies. I whacked his Flamm Luthers and two units of Battle Gs. However, I could not get enough DC in the ctrl section. I lost by scenario, in retrospect, it was my toughest fight.
I scored 3 match points and 120 Battle Points. I gave up 196 Battle Points.
Second Round I faced an Allied Player. He had two Allied Rocket planes, a Command Walker with Drop, British Commandoes, two choppers (Marine Weapons Team) Grim Reapers and some other crap Allied Bazooka units with Bazooka Joe. The scenario was where you scored superiority points by getting infantry units in the opposing players Deployment Zone. This was my strongest game. My list is designed to take out opposing Air Power and shoot the crap out of Infantry. He did not like my list. As some of you have experienced, the Der Adler plane just wrecks enemy planes. That X-4 Missile is the titts. By end of turn 5, I had a unit of Zombies my Sturm Prinz and Panzer Prince in his deployment zone. He had his remaining one unit of Grim Reapers in my Zone. I won. He lost everything but his Reapers, I lost only a unit of Brain Eaters. Some of vehicles had taken some damage, but nothing serious.
I scored 10 matched points and scored 273 Battle Points. I gave up 24 Battle Points.
Third Round. (This was the final round.)
The scenario was assassination. He had a plane. A Walker, lots of Zombies and Heavy Laser Grenadiers. He parked em all behind a building that blocked LOS and did not take them out. I just surrounded him and picked off what I could see. I did not take a single point of damage.
I scored 10 Match Points and scored 175 Battle Points.
I took 2nd place. They had GREAT prizes. I got a DDI Dust warfare plaque. A store gift certificate. Everyone received a door prize that was a Dog Tag some artwork and 5 custom Dust Dice. All losers received an additional set of Faction Dust Dice.
The store gave us 50% off all Dust crap. The took us into there store room. It was mainly SSU stuff. I picked up a second unit of Snipers and a second box of the AXIS heavy weapons team...and a USS Defiant for Star Trek Attack Wing!
Great event.
