All,
Yes, I know, I've been neglecting you. I won't bore you with excuses, but will just say that one could write a hit country song based on the events in my life since we last spoke. Sorry for the radio silence!
I'll be sending out a number of updates in the next few weeks. This first one is to bring the Durham Parks and Rec (DPR) Winter
Nutcracker Tournament to your attention.
The
Nutcracker will be run by the kind folks at DPR (Tosha Beck and Robin Buhrke), and held on Dec 6 and 7 at
Piney Wood Park in Durham. This is a super fun end-of-year tournament that not only has lots of drawings and prizes, but also ! a ! COSTUME !! CONTEST !!!
Not to brag, but I have won a prize in this contest in the past. Let that be a challenge to you all.
If the holiday spirit motivates you, you can also
volunteer to help. Seriously, it's worth it just to see the outfits.
There's more news coming soon (r.e. upcoming elections for DAPP 2025 officers and board, surveys about how to spend DAPP money at Piney, news about new pickleball courts in Durham, info about the Durham Bond that we all need to vote for), but for now, sign up for the Nutcracker, and watch this space!
Best,
Sandi Metz
2024 President
