Good afternoon, everyone, and happy New Year!
In fairly short order (probably before the end of this month, is what we heard recently), the Durham City Council will be voting on whether to approve the text amendment that will permitting commercial crop production and sales within city limits.
The DFPC needs to decide if it would like to support the text amendment, support with amendment, or oppose the text amendment. Once we reach a decision, we will develop a couple of talking points about the text amendment and the DFPC's position thereon, and develop a plan for conveying the group's position to city council members.
Because we have limited time to act, I propose that the DFPC meet ASAP to articulate its position and put together a strategy prior to the vote. I have reserved the auditorium on the first floor of the main library branch of the Durham County Public Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8. There is ample parking at the library as well as access by DATA bus routes.
If you are not able to join us on Tuesday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m., but would like to share your opinion about the position DFPC should take on this matter, or talking points you would like us to consider, please respond to this email with your ideas, or share them on the DFPC Facebook page.
Thanks y'all; see you next week.
All the best,
Rochelle
