Good evening, everyone.

On January 22 the City Council will vote on the text amendment you've been hearing so much about over the last few months. Thank you all for your contributions to the process. DFPC needs you one more time in this process.

Attached to this email, please find talking points discussed and agreed upon at Monday's meeting of the DFPC.

If you are a grower, a composter, you want to start a farmers' market, or you are a passionate food advocate, I ask that you print out the talking points and meet with a City Council member to discuss the text amendment with him or her before January 22. Here's how:

Chris Russo has established a website for DFPC at www.durhamfpc.org. On the website, you will find each City Council member's name and phone number. Call a member with whom no meeting has been set up, or sign up on the website to join someone who has already set up a meeting!

If you are setting up the meeting, click on the member's name. A form will pop up for you to input your name, email and phone number. Then click "edit" to update the time. date and location of the meeting on the website.

If you're joining an existing meeting, just click on the member's name, and fill out the form that pops up.

Whether you are setting up the meeting, or joining an existing meeting, make sure it is for a time and date that you can and will attend. on our website, click on the member's name.  YOUR MEETING MUST TAKE PLACE BEFORE JANUARY 22!!

If you cannot find a buddy to go to the meeting with you, and you want one (I strongly encourage going as a pair), two DFPC members have volunteered to serve as partners. Please contact Kevin Hamak at krhamak@gmail.com or Sandy Demeree at sdemeree@hotmail.com if you need a partner to go with you to your meeting.

These meetings should not take more than 15 minutes plus travel time to the meeting. These visits will make a big difference, and give you a chance to educate the City Council on issues of concern to us that will likely come up during 2013.

Thank you so much for all you do.

Regards,
Rochelle

PS. If you do not have access to a printer and need a copy of the talking points to take with you to your meeting, please let me know at rochell...@gmail.com. I would be happy to print them out for you and either get them to you or leave them in a downtown Durham location for you to pick up.

I noticed on the Meeting sign-up pages for each council member, it lists "Time: Thursday, January 31, 2013 - 13:45" Is that the time we are signing up for? This is after the Jan 22nd vote.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the question. No, it is not the time you are signing up for. Rather, it is a place holder. When you call the council member's phone number and get an actual meeting date and time, click on the council member's name, put in your contact info, then press "edit" at the top left. Scroll down, and change the date and time of the meeting and add information about the location. If my explanation is too confusing, there are also directions at the top of durhamfpc.org

Thanks so much for taking a look at it. Everyone, please do call today and set up meetings. Once you have an appointment, please update the website immediately to insure that other members do not also set up meetings!

Thanks much,

Rochelle
