Do you want a workshop that covers important basic concepts that you will need to understand how to properly balance and run an Aquaponic systemCome to the workshop at the Abundance Foundation on May 4th between 9am-2 p.m http://theabundancefoundation.org/diy-2013/aquaponics-workshop-may-4-2013 and find out why these simple guidelines below can be misleading and even cause your system to fail!

Internet Myths:
  • Stock the system @ the rate of 1lb fish/ 5 gallons of water?
  • Keep Plant Grow Bed: Fish Ratio at a volume ratio of 1:1 or 2:1?
  • Grow beds must be 12 inches deep?
  • Keep pH Neutral and Ammonia concentrations below 1ppm?
  • Add worms to turn fish poop intp plant nutrients so you don't have to clean your plant beds?
  • And wahlah- you're and Aquaponic Farmer?
  • Not Quite!

Did you know that if you grow at a depth of 6” instead of 12” , your Plant Grow Bed : Fish Tank Ratio should change to 1:2 (not 2:1) at a 1lb/ 5-10 gallon fish density?
Did you know that growing at a fish density of 1lb/gallon using a Plant Grow Bed: Fish Tank Ratio of 1:1 can be lethal?
Did you know that Ammonia levels can be as high as 15 if pH and temp are low before it becomes toxic!

At this workshop, I will teach you how to balance an Aquaponic ecosystem using science (not using these blind guidelines) so that when things do go wrong, or you want to change the set-up, you will understand how to trouble shoot your system because you will understand it at the biological/chemical level.

So don't miss out on this "Myth Buster" Aquaponic Workshop!!!
In addition, Small table top units that can be used to grow Microgreen/Spouts and Transplants will be on demonstration as well as large scale IBC tote systems.

Hope to see you there!
