I do completely agree that Aluminum doesn't quite fit with the cthulhu theme. Antiquated metals are much more suitable and the wear on the metal is extremely appropriate. I am slightly confused about the wear shown on the penny and the wear of copper. Pennies are copper plated zinc with only 2.5% copper. The actual plating of the penny is only 12.05 micrometers, causing the oxidation of the penny to be slightly different than the normally green oxidation of copper.
That said, if a copper die can be made with the extremely artistic green oxidation, it would be an amazingly Cthulhian die. Considering the fact that the rest of copper takes ~20 years to oxidize, the non-oxidized indent of the dice could come out very nicely. Also, I'm curious as to impurities they put in the copper to reduce the price. A lot of jewellery comes with nickle in it to make it so cheap, but it turns your skin green. This could be a bad thing.
Also, I'm wondering how Aluminum and Copper compares. I know copper piping is a hot item for thieves because it sells well on the market. I don't think people steal golf clubs for that reason...
All in all, I think this is a teriffic idea and I look forward to seeing some prototypes.
