I've mocked up an accurate scale of the different sizes of dice to show the size of the Epic Monsters.  This is a different expansion than the classes/races.  This is Tiamat.  The monster bag will gain a new die that refers to one of several Epic monsters.  If Tiamat were to come up, for example, the above die would be rolled and each side would have slightly differing strengths and abilities.  Tiamat would likely possess a different breath weapon (corresponding to different spells) on each side, to represent its multiple heads.

Where are the 12 monster dice coming from? Also, it looks ultra badass.

The Epic monsters work differently.  They will add a value to a set number of dice.

Interesting, I'm looking forward to hearing how they work. Maybe we should hash out the base game + classes + races first before you give us another thing to argue over.

definitely regular dice should be added. Otherwise the epic dice are susceptible to steal, etc...

Currently there are 14 monster dice (15 if the Colosseum die is added and 16 with the mimic die). I think one small problem with the difference in size is the fact that you can essentially feel for the bigger die. I don't think many people will play this way, but it is something to consider. With the Epic Monster dice, I would suggest an expansion that adds like 5 general monsters and 5 epic monsters. This would pad out the monster bag, decreasing the probability of people grabbing an epic and dropping it based on the feel (or feeling around for an Epic)

As for Epic monster's rewards, what if you gave some of the playtestesters what they wanted regarding Class experience. Maybe Epic Monsters reward class experience, drawing power from the epic corpse lying on the table, giving everyone the use of a new face of their class die.

Only problem with these ideas is that new monsters might require new spells to draw from. Additionally, advanced classes would then require the epic monsters expansion.

Edit: just realized that mimic is not in the monster bag. Soz.

If I understand the original post, there would be a normal sized monster die which has pictures of six different epic monsters on it. If you drew that die you would roll it to see which epic monster you are facing, then you would take the appropriate epic die from the community dice pool and roll it to see what specifically that epic monster will throw at you.

Indeed, adding six epic monsters seems the way to go. I love this idea
