Our next event is a 1hr night rogaine around the Ross Creek map, with a sinister twist...

Club junior Henry Hodgson, has planned the course. If you don't get caught by a vampire, fitter runners should be able to keep themselves active for about an hour.

Register here before midnight Tuesday 24th June.

Event Centre is at Craigieburn Reserve, at the top of Tanner Rd.
Extra care will be required arriving at this event as it is on a bus route.
Park only on the left / uphill / southern side of Tanner Rd, up to the entrance of Craigieburn Reserve.
Or the left / uphill / northern side of Tanner Rd, between the junction with Wakari Rd and Glenholm St. If the latter option, cross the road very carefully to the Reserve entrance.

As usual for a winter night event, please come with a headtorch, a spare torch/batteries, a (charged, working) mobile phone, and appropriate clothing for the (probably slippery) conditions.

As this is a family friendly event, and headtorches are bright when shone into canine eyes, please leave your dogs at home.

With the Event Centre at an exposed site, if the weather is very wet, the event may be postponed.  If so, it will be advertised on the club website home page by Saturday lunchtime, messaged on Facebook, and an email will be sent to the email address that you provide on the Registration form.

Briefing at 4.50pm. Mass start at 5pm. Maps available from 4.30pm. One clipcard is provided per map.

COST
Club members $5 for Juniors (under 20years old), $8 per tertiary student/Gold Card, $10 per adult
Non club members $10 for Juniors,  $15  per tertiary student/Gold Card, $20 per adult.

WHAT'S A VAMPIRE O?
Vampire O is a fun 1- hour night rogaine with a spooky twist.
Each solo or team group is given a clipcard, and they record a punch mark at each control.
Controls are worth various points.
Several of the clipcards are marked with a secret Vampire symbol, only visible after the mass start.
Vampire clipcards can't accumulate points.
So the vampire wants to steal your results card at any point in the event, therefore gaining the points you have already accumulated.
They make you the new vampire by handing you their Vampire Card.
Your task then is to take another competitors card, and get back to the Finish by 6pm.
Choose your target well and you may well gain a good clipcard without ever visiting any controls...

Bring your good humour and come in fancy dress.

Our Vampire O, which could not come to pass on Saturday 28th June due to abysmal weather, has been rescheduled to next Friday evening.

Unusually, we're holding it on a Friday night.  This is due to a combination of busy schedules, and having to try and keep the orienteering conditions spookily dark, ie:  before daylight savings kicks in.  We wanted to keep it as family friendly as possible and avoid the school holiday period.

But we've had to change the timing to an hour later - from 6-7pm. Apologies if this doesn't suit those with very young children.

On our website front page, there is a box for Check Entries - these are the people who entered for the Saturday 28th June event.
You may not be able to remember if you entered or not.
If you're on that list, we have the map already printed for you.  Just turn up on the night.

If this new date no longer suits, please email me by Reply ONLY, not REPLY ALL, to let me know you can no longer attend.
Reply All goes to 443 people in this email group. To avoid Reply ALL, you usually click on the 3 dots next to the Reply arrow.  Then you are shown the options; Reply, Reply to All, Forward, etc.
If you paid, but can no longer attend, we'll arrange a credit for the next event of ours that you attend, or a refund, if necessary

If you didn't enter for the original event, please Register by using the Vampire O Pre-entry box before midnight Tuesday 9th September.
Your name will then come up on the Check Entries list.

To recap, for those who don't know what a Vampire O is, or for those who didn't enter last time;
