Kia ora orienteers,
Please mark Sunday August 24th into your diary for the Sutton Orienteering event (OY3); it definitely feels like Middle Earth Rohan country and is mostly gentle rolling farmland. For those who haven’t orienteered on these Middlemarch maps before it’s well worth the change of scene from the town maps.
We’ve pushed it back a wknd to avoid clashing with the Ski O event (16th August) and Ski rogaine (17th August) at the snow farm, which are also fun events.
Ngā mihi,
Charlotte (Planner) and Jim (Controller)
Kia ora orienteers,
Just resending the information for this Sunday’s OY event at Sutton, with added detail on the courses that Charlotte has planned. It’s nice, fast open country and there doesn’t look to be fog in the forecast so could be some quick winning times:

Yellow 2.9 55
Orange 4.9 100
Short Red 3.9 55
Med Red 6.4 100
Long Red 10.2 165
Where: Start location is on Pukerangi Road, north of Sutton Stream.
From Dunedin: Allow an hour along SH87 toward Middlemarch. Turn Right into Pukerangi Road (1 km before you get to the railway crossing by the old Sutton school).
From Central Otago: Travel to and through Middlemarch, to Sutton. Turn Left into Pukerangi Road 1 km past the railway crossing that’s beside the old School.
When:
Starts 11.00 – 12.30
Course Closure 3.30
What to bring: Warm clothes, whistle, water, (compass).
What not to bring: Pets.
Ngā mihi,
