Hi there
I've been asked by the boss to find an adsl provider in Dunedin for
our work. Does anyone have a recommendation in terms of pricing ... we
don't want to use isps like telstra or xtra because past experiences
with poorly maintained dns servers in the local area.
I suspect our usage will be in the 10 to 20 gigs per month approx. We
are a charity and only 3 people work here.
We have a phoneline available to put adsl over so we only want the adsl service.

I guess this could turn into a flame war... so would better to email
me back off list

Geoff,
at TracMap we use neton.co.nz, which is run by mediacorp.co.nz.  The main reason we use them is because our landlord owns part of that business and he gave us a good deal originally.  But I've actually found them pretty good over all.

A brochure I have from 6 months ago shows their ADSL2 plans at 10GB $49, 20GB $59, Naked ADSL2 10GB $69, 20GB $79.  They also have VDSL if you can get it, we can't out here in Mosgiel.  VDSL 20GB $129, Naked VDSL 20GB $149.

So if you don't get any other good options give them a call.  0800 123 633.

Would be interested in what you decide to go with, so post an update back on the list.

Cheers,
Michael

Sorry, wasn't supposed to reply to list... stupid gmail.  At least just clicking reply chose to only reply to one of the 2 lists Geoff posted to, so only half bad!

+1 for Orcon
+1 for Snap but Orcon's customer service is better.

We're currently with Telstraclear (as part of a big telecoms bundle) and haven't had to deal with them yet. Not sure if that's good or bad. TC had a good reputation with us some time ago.

Orcon's systems went down recently for 1/2 a day for a contact of mine.  They run hundreds of emails addresses via orcon, and they were getting no service for that time.  Initially emails were bounced back to senders saying the email addresses didn't exist, later they were simply not accepted at all.

I have no insight into it, but I suspect there may have been a database failure that caused it.

It didn't affect their ADSL line.

Cheers,
Alex
