The open-hardware OpenSL 1.0 SLA printer has just been released:

http://www.pryntech.com

The SLA printer can have layer thickness of less than 20 microns  (compared to 200-400 microns on a standard prusa mendel)

The firmware and software are GPL, and the electronic and the hardware designs are CC 3.0 BY-SA-NC

The full kit costs USD 1300 that is scheduled to be released in June.

The design is available at:

https://github.com/beardface/LAMPS/

Though this is outdated, and does not reflect the ongoing changes on OpenSL 1.0

What do you think about the price of the kit, given the BOM on the website and/or github?

Would it be more economical to buy the whole kit?  Or just get the electronic kit (USD 550) and laser-cut the rest using local engineering shops?  Or in-between - in case if we have enough interest from other model engineering clubs or schools, how about make a set of mechanical kits (say 20) and will this decrease per-unit cost?

At the moment, have anyone seen photos of objects printed by this printer?
