Thanks for pointing out the makerzine:

http://makezine.com/

It gives really up-to-date information on what is commercially available with regards to 3D fabrication technologies.

It only costs USD 25 to subscribe for a year.  So perhaps should our club make a subscription, and then everyone can read the magazine at the Makerspace?

We already do - Paul arranged a free sub - I've left the first one on the
coffee table

That's great..... will all issues that we received be kept at Makerspace so that everyone can read?

Hi the club has a. Subscription to makezine :)
From the "ultimate guide to 3 d printing" by make
The best printer that I could see was makergear m2 resolution 0.02 mm and another good one was ultimaker 0.04 mm z resolution pretty amazing really. Another one similar to form1 but more dying and not so restrictive on resin is b9creator.com not sure the cost of resin.
Also be interested in loss wax casting

I think a physical copy is great to have in the space. I subscribed
last year and put digital copies on the computer by the sofas when they
came in (quarterly).

Thanks for this information.  The b9creator.com resin only costs USD 160 for 2kg, which would be half the price of the Formlab resin, if the resin density is 1kg/L

Are you sure about the Z resolution of the magergear M2 and ultimaker?  you said they are 20 and 40 microns respectively, but normally, the traditional molten plastic extrusion printers can only have a Z resolution of 100 microns!  I looked at the makergear and ultimaker websites but can't find the Z-resolution info.....

The z resolution is what the magazine says. Makergear don't recommend going that small but I have seen on there website where they have tested it out. Cannot remember what they went down to but it was impressive

I've been out of reach of email most of this weekend - they're coming to my
house (again - thanks Paul) I'm just planning on bringing them in for people
to read and just leave them lying around - they're a great way to pull in
visitors to the space

Paul: By the way, do you have the special issue "Ultimate Guide to 3D printing"?

http://blog.makezine.com/volume/make-ultimate-guide-to-3d-printing/

If you do, I guess many of us would like to read it at the Makerspace.........
