I'm sorry to let you know that Mary Ann Dobson passed away on April 5th.  I was contacted by her niece who is working on making sure her website remains in place.  More as I find out ...

Oh my what a great loss:(  

Mary Ann was a stalwart of Duncan research.  She has contribute so much to each of us and her love of her Duncan name.

Lets be sure to use and carry on her years of dedicated work in memory of her.

Rest in Peace Mary Ann Duncan!

Thanks for letting us know. I started my research 35 years ago and Mary Ann and I corresponded the old fashion way by regular mail and telephone. She was an inspiration and tremendous help to me. Her research will live on and everyone will benefit from her tireless work. Rest in Peace Mary Ann.

DuncanPioneer -  Mary Ann and I met “on-line” and corresponded about my  Duncan ancestor.  She was of great help to me regarding the mystery surrounding my ancestor Joshua Duncan b. VA 1800..  We never solved the mystery but I will always remember how gracious she was giving me tips and introducing me to two other individuals trying to find the same Duncan(s).

Rest in peace Mary Ann.

Mary Ann spent many years of her life helping all us Duncan researchers.   One of my older brothers was my Duncan genealogy 'mentor' and he was in contact with MAD for several years, including doing some Texas research for her files -- and he died about 15 years ago.

Gwyneth:  I have MAD's home address which we could use to send sympathy cards, etc.  Is it appropriate to Post it here?

FYI to all:   I did a quick internet search and found the funeral home in Placerville, CA for MAD:   Here's the URL:  http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Mary+Ann-Dobson&lc=7042&pid=185007088&mid=7359258

There is a place there for memorial messages if you'd like to leave one for the family.
