Subject: Donnachaidh DNA Project Update #2
Importance: High
Hello,
I am sending this email outside of the new (duncan-group-f) system so all participants in Duncan Group 'F' get this information.
In the November 29th email I sent I attached several files pertaining to current Duncan research. These are example of the research and additional testing that I would like to do in Duncan group 'F'. Some of you may have seen some pieces of these files already.
There is a lot of details and information in these files so do not let them overwhelmed you. Please read and study them.
In Raleigh I talked about getting everyone upgraded to at least the 67 marker level to help give us better resolution. I also talked about doing more with SNP testing and getting some men to take the Big-Y test and then try to find single SNPs for this group that all can test to help us also in our matching. The article that pertains to Duncan group'B' talks about the reasons and what we want to do in group 'F'.
The Isle of Bute study is exciting and shows how we are using all the different components of research to make progress and "jump the pond".
You all should have received a email about the FTDNA holiday sale which goes until Dec. 31st. This year they have an mystery reward program that changes every week. You can use these are gift them to someone. Another option is to add your unused mystery rewards to this file https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MmWulLFW5t0QQK_957ZrtVmSsui6mAlyncLOqEXFp0U/edit?pli=1#gid=1058386851 which then can be use by anyone needing a coupon.
Anyone planning to order the advanced BIG-Y test let me know as there have been some $50 & $100 coupons. I have one Big-Y coupons but it goes away Sunday night.
We do not need everyone to take the BIG-Y test but I would like to see some from each subgroup of Duncan group 'F' take the test. We can all make small donations to help fund these more expensive tests. This can be done through the project's General Fund (earmarked for Group 'F' Big-Y) http://www.clandonnachaidhdna.org/dna-testing/
The Big-Y test may require a new DNA sample to be taken it the current amount of DNA is not enough.
Feel free to inquire with any questions that you may have.
Thanks everyone for your help in our Duncan research!
Please let me know your plans.
Sincerely,
Tim Duncan
