These are two of dull knife's finer releases to date, and I really
thing people will enjoy them.
“Roman Holiday” is the debut LP from Houston, TX’s BALACLAVAS,
following two 12” EP releases on the Phonographic Arts and Dull Knife
labels. “Roman Holiday” is group's finest recording to date, and
showcases the groups diverse influences while still showcasing their
very unique sound. While the band makes nods to the danceable post
punk of PUBLIC IMAGE LTD, the rhythms of CAN, and the coldness of
KILLING JOKE, they are able to keep things wholly unique and create an
original, highly melodic sound that some have pegged as death rock or
dub punk. The band makes an awfully big sound for a 3 piece,
supplementing their traditional rock setup with electronic drums,
synthesizers, tape loops, and sax.

punk legends Culturcide, Really Red, and PainTeens on sax.
The LAMPS “Niels Bohr Was an Excellent Ping Pong Player” b/w “I’ve
Been on a Lot of Camels” 7” is one of the best punk singles I've heard
since Mayyors hit the scene with their two gems. You may know the band
from their fine releases on In The Red Records. Fans have been waiting
a while for these two favorites to be released, and I’m thrilled that
they chose Dull Knife to release them. “Niels Bohr” has to be
considered one of, if not the best song yet from the Los Angeles trio.
Its guitar riff jackhammers its way into your brain before giving way
to a deadpan chorus that is catchy as hell. The flip side is a killer
noisy number in the Am Rep tradition, and is the perfect foil to the A-
side. In fact, let’s just call this a double A-sided 7”.
