Wehave an incompatibility issue here with the newest version of Win10, 1709, so we need our computers to be at 1703 or earlier. Does anyone know where I can obtain installation media for 1703? My understanding is that the MS Media Creation Tool will make 1709 installation media. Thanks for your help

Like Rod-IT said, you will need VLSC access to get 1703. I recently discovered I was having a compatibility issue with 1709 and a piece of software we use. Luckily a fix is being worked on and setting up an RDS server was a faster solution than re-imaging 20 laptops.

At first I thought it was telling me it was already installed. But upon closer inspection, KB3133719 is not the update I installed -- it's the feature pack for the previous version of Windows 10, 1607.

I'm kind of stuck here. There doesn't seem to be a way of uninstalling feature packs, short of reinstalling the OS (which I don't have time to do atm), but I can't get the feature pack installed (for those that don't know, this means that videos on the internet won't play, and all sorts of games and apps will work incorrectly or not at all -- it's not just windows media player).

Like many others I have had problems with disappearing shared drives and odd password requests over the years. I have always been able to resolve the issues by changing the network share settings on the PC UNTIL NOW!!!

Since the above Windows 10 update (1703) my PC is no longer visible from either of my WD Media players. I have tried every solution I can find and am now throwing this to the floor, please help me. Apologies if this is a oft repeated problem, but all the normal fixes seem to not work with this build.

For Info I have a WD TV Live and an old WD Media player that are both attached through a wired network to a Version 4 BT hub and are trying to communicate with a Windows 10 PC with USB attached WD External hard drives.

I have discovered its the new Windows Defender Security Centre that is blocking the WDTV from accessing the PC. If you switch that off everything works again. now all I need to find out is how to have security AND media access !!!

The HUB could be the problem. I finally figured out that a Hub was my problem of the WDTV seeing a drive on my WDTV. The Win 10 PC with 3TB drive attached and other gadgets. The USB3 drive was shared from Win 10 to network. Other Win 7 could see it and transfer files back and forth, and even play media files on drive thruogh network. WDTV say it but said there was no media.

Master Browser with Win 7 was discussed a lot here in the past. Until I found I could make my Asus router the MB I had a lot of problems with shares and WDTV. Since the router is on 24/7, there is always an MB on the network and none of the MB issues have ever re-appeared with either Win 7 or 10 computers or WDTV.

Addressed additional issues with the Windows Shell, enterprise security, Datacenter Networking, storage networking, Internet Information Services, Active Directory, clustering, Windows Server, the client platform, and Internet Explorer.

Security updates to Windows COM, Windows SMB Server, Windows server, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge.

Here's a little problem that drove me crazy: How do you determine the Master Browser in a Windows Workgroup? First of all, lemme explain a bit about how a workgroup works. When you have a LAN set up running Windows machines, each machine can see all...

WDTV Live and WDTV Hub need SMBv1 enabled to be working. Microsoft is recommeding to disable SMBv1 due to the recent Wannacry ransomware. When SMBv1 is disabled on any Windows/NAS devices WDTV stops accessing Windows shares. Master Browser is a legacy protocol.

The Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) and Windows PE add-on has the tools you need to customize Windows images for large-scale deployment, and to test the quality and performance of your system, its added components, and the applications running on it. The Windows ADK includes:

The 32-bit versions of Windows PE are no longer included in the Windows PE add-ons starting with the ADK for Windows 11, version 22H2. The last supported version of 32-bit Windows PE is available in the Windows PE add-on for Windows 10, version 2004.

If possible, use the ADK version that matches the Windows version you're working with. If your environment has a mix of Windows versions, use the ADK version that matches the latest operating system in your environment.

If you're working with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, see Support for the Windows ADK in Configuration Manager to learn about the versions of the Windows ADK that you can use with different versions of Configuration Manager.

After downloading and installing the Windows PE add-on for the Windows ADK, either update the Windows PE add-on once, or create bootable Windows PE media and apply Windows update to the Windows PE media. For a comprehensive guide on how to customize a Windows PE boot image, including applying cumulative updates, see Customize Windows PE boot images.

Windows ADK contains core assessment and deployment tools that IT Pros can use to deploy Windows 10 company-wide, including the User State Migration Tool (USMT) and Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT).

However, before upgrading to W11, I strongly suggest that you use the free Macrium Reflect software to make a system image and bootable rescue media to access the image in case you ever have to go back to W10 after the default 'go back to W10' period expires. I think you have 10 days to go back to W10 in case you don't like W11, or it doesn't work right on your notebook.

I would make a system image of your current W10 installation prior to updating to W11, so you can easily reinstall W10 in the future. I used the free Macrium Reflect software to do that, under the Backup at Home section.

I used the first procedure to do an in-place upgrade an old HP Elitebook 6930p notebook made in 2010 to W11, and I was able to keep my old Office 2010 Starter program that came with the notebook when it had W7 on it, along with all of my other programs, files and settings.

I want to know, if I install Win 11 in those ways you mentioned, what will happen to my Windows Activation as my current genuine windows is OEM activated. I've seen many ways internet, but no one tells about OEM activation. I think you could clarify this.

In case other people have the same issue I had to setup the cpu to be a core2duo during the windows 10 installation process. After the windows installation, switching back to host-passthrough with the options kvm ignore_msrs=1 on /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf worked fine.

You can remove the msrs stuff from the kvm.conf.

Latest libvirt (4.7.0 as of this moment as I see it on Fedora 29) fixes the problem and the Windows 1803 and 1809 installation works perfectly OK.

So check your version of libvirt* and upgrade it if necessary.

VM is fine , just change you windows os version. some windows os version get this error. Me 27x time try and i found this easy way. Same setting just different Os version And must your cpu configuration host-passthrough

Sorry that was a mis-statement, it shows in in settings under devices and printers for about 20-30 seconds before it vanishes. Not enough time to do anything. Was fine before one of the Windows 10 upgrades.

Windows 10 upgrades have shown a pattern of removing software applications and drivers that it "deems" incompatible with Windows 10, despite the fact that in many cases there is nothing wrong with the software.

I suspect that you may need to re-install device drivers. One way to do this is open up the Devices Utility and add a new device. I had to do this on one of my Windows 10 machines after I performed the 'free" upgrade to Windows 10. The Canon software worked for a few days, Windows performed an update, and suddenly the laptop would not recognized the camera. I had to "Add A Device" through the Devices Utility. This forced the laptop to download a driver from the web, mostl likely from Microsoft.

I had the same maddening issue with my T3i. At first I kept blaming Microsoft's updates and then I found a surprizing thing about my T3i. It was only recognized when I had the original kit lens attached. Do not ask me why but when I have any other lens such as my EF-S 60mm macro/portrait lens it fails to recognize the camera. I can plug the camera in, turn it on and it would read it as an "unknown USB failed to intiate" message and would not recognize the camera. I can turn it off, put on my kit lens and turn it back on and Windows 10 recognizes the T3i again.

I was having the same problem with my T5i, plug in the a USB port and it was not recognized. Different cable made no difference. I then tried another USB port and it worked fine with the same cable! The only difference; the first port was a USB 3.0 while the one where it worked was a USB 2.0 port. When I plugged into the USB 2.0 port Windows 10 said great, let me setup the necessary stuff and and is if by magic it worked. Offloaded my pics and I was happy. Now knowing that it works, I plugged into the same USB 3.0 port it is still will not recognize the camera. I know the port works because I use it with thumb drives all the time. Freaky but crappy at the same time. If it works one place it should work in the other.

After installation you should also be able to find "Windows media player" in your start menu. I found this the easiest way to check if installation was succesfull. Installing a wrong version of MFP will not give you an error, it'll just not work...
