Hi Marco,

I have started a new pangenome project with 10 organisms. I have gotten as far as initiating the project, adding the proteomes, and adding the kaas outputs for each organism. I have started the 'dgenome start' command and am getting this error:

14:16:44 - Blast DB creation failed with error 127

14:16:44 - /bin/sh: makeblastdb: command not found

14:16:44 - Could not create DB for /Users/u12923/Documents/UUI_Loyola_DuctApe/tmp/proteins/Sanginosus_UMB0142

14:16:44 - Failure! Create DBs failure!

14:16:44 - PanGenome could not be calculated!

I have attached my log for your reference.

Best,

Kassi

Hi Kassi,

It seems that you don't have blast+ installed in your system, as I can see this message in the logs ("/bin/sh: makeblastdb: command not found"). If you are in a Debian like Unix system (which includes ubuntu), try do the following before trying again:

sudo apt-get install ncbi-blast+

Also, from the log it seems that "Efaecalis_UMB0035" has only 10 proteins, which seems low, especially compared to the other genomes you have added there. You might want to check whether you have the full proteome for that strain. Otherwise you will end up with a very small core genome.

Hope this helps,
Marco
