Determinationof the real source for an item of supply is one of the most important prerequisites for proper application of the Uniform System of Item Identification (STANAG No 3151). It is the source where documentation will be obtained from and its location normally gives advice for codification responsibility.

Although the NATO Codification System uses NATO Commercial and Governmental Entity (NCAGE) codes principally to identify manufacturers, NCAGEs are broadly used in many countries in a variety of logistics processes. As such, they are often assigned to a variety of organizations, including distributors, standards bodies, government organizations, and service providers.

An NCAGE request shall be transmitted thru NCAGE Code Request Tool. The tool provides search capabilities on all NATO Commercial and Government Entity (NCAGE) codes assigned across the world and allows submitting requests for a creation/update of the NCAGE code records.

NATO Commercial and Government Entity code is primarily entity identifier within NATO Codification System (NCS), which holds the name, address and contact details of the organization. NCAGE codes are recognized throughout the international community and broadly used in many countries in a variety of logistics and administration processes, like a System for Award Management (SAM) registration in USA.

The processing timeframes for NCAGE code requests depend on priority level chosen by requestor during submittal of a request. Processing timeframes: Routine: 10 calendar days Emergency: 3 business days.

System Award Management system (SAM) is a supplier database for the U.S. Federal government. SAM is solely US system and NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) cannot provide any support for SAM registrations except of providing NCAGE code services.
