Dear All,
Every new Ilayaraja album comes as a whiff of fresh air to me although it gets totally unnoticed frequently these days. The point is IR's use of synth being too monotonous and mundane at times.
However, more often than not, he comes off with at-least evergreen melody.
The same is the case with Azhagar malai, in which quite surprisingly and astonishingly all songs are great since Raja has stayed away from synth. He, who has been written off by many others as a has been, has really come out with flamboyance and has retorted his critics with this great album. The only fly in the ointment being absence of SPB, whose presence has been a rarity in IR's albums these days.
The kadugu mani song is melody personified and typical of the Raaja melodies of the 80s such as Sama kozhi koovudhamma and kadhal oviyam songs.
Don't miss this album.
