Hey everyone, join up and say hello! Everyone is welcome to join, whether you are an experienced R user, a new user or just curious. I'm hoping to organize some informal (i.e. pub-based) meetups over the summer, and to start formal monthly meetups with presentations in the autumn. Please post a short intro of yourself when you join so we can get the conversation started.

I am a software developer trained as an economist, and I've been using R for about 10 years. I use R regularly and do a lot of work with documenting R and writing refreshable documents which incorporate R output, via an open source software package I wrote called Dexy (http://dexy.it).

Hi folks,

my name is Dietmar Janetzko. I am working as a lecturer at the School
of Computing
at the National College of Ireland in Dublin.

There are computer systems that lock you into one particular
intellectual level and others that help
you to go beyond that level - well ... if you are ready to overcome
some obstacles sometimes. R is definitively a
system of the latter kind. I use R for many years and I am struck by
the breadth of the various types
of analysis that are being developed under the R flag and which are
made available to the general audience.

My own work is related to data mining, statistics, social network
analysis and other data analysis areas
and I am looking forward to exchange R-related things with other like-
minded people.

I have been using R for five years in the analysis of pharmaceutical
clinical trials. I also use it in the analysis of data from a Dublin
factory manufacturing biopharmaceuticals and vaccines.

Hi all,

I'm a statistician/lecturer working in the areas of biochemistry,
clinical pharmacology and epidemiology.

I've been using R for several years and have a particular interest in
the GUI tools available in R (RGtk2, Qt, gWidgets,...), using them to
design GUIs for specific project related tasks, sometimes for
distribution within a project group.

My name is Robert. I am not an experienced R practionior although I know the basics. I have just completed a masters in computer science in DIT specialising in Data Analytics. My interest include R, data mining visualisations. I am currently working on a dissertation proposal and job hunting. 

My aim joining the group is to increase my knowledge of R and visualisations  and make some new friends in my area of interest.
