Recently, Indian actor Sanjay Dutt shared a photo on Twitter in which he informed about getting Golden Visa from UAE. 

He wrote that in the presence of Major General Mohamed Al Mari, he is very honoured to receive the Golden Visa. 

After getting the Golden Visa, Sanjay Dutt can stay in UAE for 10 years. They will not need to obtain visas repeatedly to travel to the UAE.

In such a situation, the question arose in the minds of many people that what is this golden visa and how is it obtained? 

Please note that UAE is not the only country to grant Golden Visa. Apart from this, many countries like Portugal, Spain and Greece issue golden visas to certain people.

Started in 2019

Actually UAE's golden visa is a 10-year resident permit in Dubai. Golden Visa was first introduced in 2019. 

It was started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for investors and businessmen.

In the next year i.e. 2020, golden visa was also allowed for some special people, which can include people of a particular degree, doctors, scientists and professions. 

It is only after these changes in the rules that Sanjay Dutt has been given a golden visa. Apart from UAE, countries like Portugal, Greece, Spain, Malta, USA, St. Kitts and Novice, Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica also give Golden Visa.

How to get

The purpose of the countries behind granting the Golden Visa is to promote investment. 

Citizens can apply for a Golden Visa under the 'Residency by Investment Programme'. 

After the application, the country verifies the documents seeking the visa and after making sure that the applicant is granted a golden visa.

Golden visa of two types

There are two types of UAE Golden Visa. One for 10 years and one for 5 years. The 10-year golden visa is given only to investors. 

It is allowed to take along with you a spouse, children, an executive director and a consultant. 

At the same time, the five-year golden visa is given to investors as well as entrepreneurs, talented students, people working in the field of science and knowledge, researchers like doctors and scientists and people associated with the field of arts. 

In this also, spouse and children are allowed to travel together.
