Sana to Al Ghail

Hi

I'm trying to put together a ride from Sana to Al Ghail. Sana is about
25km from Dibba off the main road, in the mountains. From there you
follow a downhill track approx. 22km to a town called Al Ghail, which
is about 26km from Al Dhaid. There are some seasonal pools around Al
Ghail which would be a great place to spend and have a BBQ after the
ride.

The trip can only be done in one direction (unless you're planning on
doing the Tour de France on a MTB next year), so a back-up car is
required. Unfortunately civilization has caught up with this part of
the world and they have now tarred sections of the really steep hills.
There are still some places with gravel and hard sand. I am proposing
to do it on Friday 4th January, but any other suggestions are welcome.

Sounds like a great ride, but I don't get back from my holiday until 6th
January. So either enjoy or we can go the next Friday, if you can't find
any other victims.

I don't think that it would be a problem to do the trip on the 11th.
Brian's wife has volunteered to be our back-up so that makes 3 of us
for that trip. If anybody else decides to join in we would need to go
with 2 cars and leave one at Sana. Or have another back-up driver. So
far there are no plans for a BBQ at the end of the trip, but that is
something that can be decided at the last minute.
