Meeting With AALL Presendent Elect Darcy Kirk

Hello,

I am unable to attend tomorrow's meeting. From the agenda it seems
there is lots to discuss!

We are meeting with AALL president-elect, Darcy Kirk on Sunday at AALL
annual.

She will be meeting us for at least a 1/2 hour (or longer if we'd
like) before the Gen X/Gen Y meeting on Sunday.

An exact time and location have not been determined.

I am going to be at the meeting on Saturday (to attend the Federal
Librarian presentation) and plan to figure out a location, either at
the conference center, head quarters hotel or somewhere very close
(which I'll email to everyone) then. I can also plan to text the
location to attendees if that's preferable. If there are suggestions,
I could use the help but she'll be joining us from the Diversity
reception at the hotel so the closer we are to her, the more time we
get.

I was thinking we would meet her around 6:15/6:30 which would give us
an hour with Darcy and 15 minutes to get to the Gen X/Y meeting, if
people are interested in attending. Darcy is going to the Gen X /Y
meeting which starts at 7:30.

I am out of town until this Sunday but plan to email DUALLS and DUSLA
for a head count of who can meet with Darcy then. I'll include an
exact time and location tba.

I'm secretly hoping at least five people can meet with her since its a
big deal to get her time which is scheduled to the max.

Her presidency is going to be about growth, connecting and learning.
But the big focus is connecting newer and more senior members of the
profession. So hopefully we can have a great dialog with her.

Hi Jess,

You can count me in on the meeting.  I think it's a fantastic opportunity to meet with AALL leadership and become more actively involved.  I'm planning on going the the Federal Careers program as well so I'll see you there!

Jess,

Thank you for your amazing work!  This is going to be great.  

Meeting-space wise, I wonder if there is room at the Marriott adjoining the convention center (they are physically connected on the inside); there also is a Hilton just a few blocks away.

I plan on attending. The Marriott's lounge or restaurant could be a good venue.
