Those who are interested in academic law librarianship might want to
know about the annual conference of the Association of American Law
Schools taking place in D.C. on January 4-8, 2011. The director of
the law library at which I am doing a practicum this quarter, knowing
that I am curious about the path to becoming a director or assistant
director of a law school library, suggested that I might want to
consider attending this conference. Although it is geared to law
schools more broadly and includes various sessions of interest to law
professors in different subject areas, it does include sessions
relating to law librarianship, and will presumably provide
opportunities for networking with law school administrators and law
library directors.
The cost for law students to attend the conference is $255, although
some sessions cost extra. Hopefully that student rate would also
apply to library students, but I haven't confirmed that yet. A link
to a description of the conference is below. There is a page entitled
"Registration" with details on how to sign up. The deadline to
register at the $255 rate is November 17.
