Dear Sir/ Madam,

Greetings from IIT Madras! 

We are pleased to inform you that the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras, is hosting a two-day National Symposium on 'Victorian Indian Identities' on the 6th and 7th of June 2018. The symposium will include plenary lectures by renowned academics from various universities, besides selected paper-presentations and panel discussions.

Plenary Lectures:

  • Associate Professor Chitra Sankaran, National University of Singapore, Singapore
  • Associate Professor Tamara Silvia Wagner, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
  • Professor Sudha Shastri, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
  • Professor Pramod Nayar, Department of English, University of Hyderabad
In addition to the plenary lectures, a workshop on 'Ecofeminism and South-Asian Literatures' will also be conducted, by Professor Chitra Sankaran (NUS), on the afternoon of the 6th of June 2018. 

Please find attached the poster detailing the Call for Papers. The themes that the conference hopes to explore are elaborated in it. We request you to share the same with your colleagues or students interested in attending and/or participating in the Symposium. Participants can consider these themes to be indicative of the scope of the Symposium, but they are encouraged to go beyond them.

We urge all those interested to send in abstracts of no more than 250 words (for a fifteen-minute long final paper), and a brief bio of 70 words, to victorianind...@gmail.com on or before the 10th of May, 2018.
