Greetings!


We are delighted to present Animals and South Asian History International Symposium,  an online event scheduled for 17 -18 December 2021, organized by the Department of History, Ashoka University


This symposium seeks to facilitate dialogues, tread newer pathways to explore, problematise, and investigate human-animal histories of South Asia across periodisation. 


Keynote address

Title: Animate South Asia: Revisiting Places, Cultures and Relationships 


Special Lecture: 

Date: December 18, 2021

Time: 14:00  – 15:15 

Speaker: Shonaleeka Kaul

Associate Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University

Title: Animals and Literary Production in Early India: Some Thoughts on the Hitopadesha


In this symposium, there are six panels consisting of twenty-three paper- presentations.
