Friends and Family.

Alrighty, so this email is going to both inform you, if you don’t
already know, and ask you for help in reference to one of my
longstanding desires and dreams; that will hopefully come to fruition.

As some of you may be aware in the winter of ’05 I left Arizona to
participate in DTS (Discipleship Training School) that was held in
Kona, HI through a Non-profit Christian organization called YWAM
(Youth With A Mission). This was one of the single most life changing
experiences that I’ve ever had; this program gave me a taste of what
Christianity was meant to be: something that is supposed to be lived
day by day, not something that only pops up during a Sunday church
service. This means that if Christianity was to be lived every day, in
a practical form then this newfound paradigm would HAVE to be
something that is wholly authentic; something that lacks cliché. I
learned to be a person who loves God and loves people in such a way
that is genuine and authentic. Now, more so than then, I am able to
see hope for other people in my life as well as hope for myself. I
experienced what it is to grow—only a little though. Ha!

When I came back become employed with the Phoenix Police Department as
a 911 Call Taker and as a Police Dispatcher. This job has taught me a
multitude of things about myself and about life. It has shown me that
the general public really does need someone, perhaps a group of
people, to help lead them to find hope in something larger than
themselves. Maybe someone to teach them that they can live life
without abusive relationships, drug dependencies, hate, malice, deceit
– simply providing education for people that live in neighborhoods
where crime is a way of life is something that would help cut crime
rates in half. I’ve also been a part of a now thriving children’s
ministry located in Queen Creek, AZ at an incredible church called
LifePoint. The children’s ministry team, the kids, the other
volunteers I’ve worked with have been instrumental in allowing me to
find that I really do love working and leading people to find hope and
meaning for themselves in life. It’s exciting! At this point in life I
am the most comfortable in being myself than I have ever been before…
EVER.

What’s next?

After I returned home in the spring of ’06 I jumped back into normal
life, knowing that one day I would want to be a part of YWAM again for
some of their continuing schools. There are a multitude of things that
you can do once you have completed a DTS program. But the thing that
has always been on the top of my list of things to do is a program
called SBS (the School of Biblical Studies). SBS is a 9 month Bible
program where you study the Bible in its original context, reading it
in total 4-6 times, all while doing this for more than 40 hours a
week! After the initial 9 month program there will be a 3 month
outreach to a place, this time to Israel and Jordan, where we will
hold a pastors conference to teach lay pastors how to study the Bible
in such a way as to derive grace and peace for their parishioners.

This intense Bible study program is something that I have really
wanted to do since I left YWAM in ’06. Logistically however, this is
something that I cannot afford to do on my own. I NEED to have the
support of my family and friends to accomplish this aspiration of
mine; both monetarily and relationally.

Recently I was getting food with a good friend of mine; we did the
normal catch up routine: asking questions, laughing, eating, and just
enjoying each other. I shared with him how I wanted to leave and do
this program; about how I am not going to be able to do this on my
own. He laughed at me. To say the least I was slightly surprised. He
asked me, “Does anyone even know that you NEED help?” to which I
responded........., “uh yeah?”

Then I started thinking… I don’t think that I’ve accurately displayed
the fact that I need help funding this project; although I know there
is a chunk of people that know that I’ve been wanting to go. So here
it is… I need help funding this dream and aspiration of mine. There is
no way for me to do this without the aid of the people around me.

The cost of this program is more than I am able to manage on my own;
it will cost about $4,000 a quarter (I have three of them), and
outreach will cost another $4,000. Worst case scenario is that this
entire next year will cost me $16,000. There are some incentives for
doing well that bring the cost of tuition down, but again worst case
scenario is that this will cost $16,000. Each set of monies are due at
the start of each quarter. So I’ll need $4,000 just for tuition if I
am going in September.

While attending this program I will not be able to hold a job; this in
essence will be my job for the next year. At an incredible rate of
pay, if I don’t say so myself….

I know that as DTS affected me that this SBS program will shape me as
well. It's very interesting to see how life is bigger than you are…
that without the help of those around you that sometimes your hopes,
aspirations, callings -- the things that you were born to do -- are
quite out of reach. We all need pushes and nudges and redirection in
life to figure out what we were made to do. I know that this program
will directly affect how I live life, for the rest of my life. I will
gain tools to help people battle through their daily lives – with the
goal of seeing hope in everything they do.

What I’m asking for now is simply a pledge of money for the future. If
you are able to invest in this dream of mine then please consider it.
All I need right now, today, is a reply to this email with an amount.
If I know that I will at least have the first quarter covered I will
set my sights to leave in September. I need to know soon, though,
otherwise I will register for classes here. As it stands now I will
not be able to leave in September due to the cost of this program
added to my normal expenses.

If you are able I would ask that you would consider maybe: donating a
day’s wage, do a double tithe for a month (1 to me, 1 to your church),
if you don’t have a church donate directly to me, look for the change
that you have in your car and mail that in (I didn't tell you to do
that..:-p), make monthly contributions while I am away.

All monies that are donated through City of Grace Church are tax
deductible; include a piece of paper inside the envelope that says
"ATTN: Outreach -- for Justin Fulton's SBS Account". Another option to
give electronically is through site called Firstgiving.com which is
also tax deductible; however they take a hefty 7.35% to cover this
service of convenience.

If you are unable to give please keep me in your prayers for this.
It’s going to be exciting to see what happens in the near future.
Thanks for reading this incredibly long email. I love you. Be blessed.

-Justin
