There is a youth pastor job opening in Celina, TX (75009) at Bethel Baptist Church. I'm leaving for NM and am looking for someone to fill this position. Bethel is a small (150 attendance) Southern Baptist church about an hour - hour and a half (depeding on traffic) from DTS. It is in a rural community that is growing rapidly. The pastor, Cliff, is great and the people are very nice. They are looking for a youth pastor who has some experience and they do not mind if you are in seminary. They will work with your schedule and you can even do homework on the job! There are about 30 youth (7th-12th) and a youth praise band already in place. I'm leaving on good terms and you will have some pretty big shoes to fill, size 13. :-) Just kidding. Bethel is a traditional church but does not mind letting the youth play a contemporary song, or three, during the worship service. The community is VERY Christian friendly. Youth pastors speak at pep rallies team devotions weekly. There is only one high school and it is always open to youth workers. Plus, Celina is one of the best football teams around and possibly the best football town in the state (if not the world). Every other sport is important in Celina and they provide a way to connect with students.
The pay is negotiable with experience and schedule. You must be self-motivated because the pastor will not micromanage you. Not much office time is required if you get things done, just weekly meetings with the pastor. Your primary responsibilities would include teaching on Wed night, running a Sunday night program for the youth, overseeing the Sunday school teachers (they are GREAT) and planning events (church camp, retreats, activities, etc...)
