Thefirst step for any interior design project is to establish an inspiration board to set the tone for your project. Pinterest and Instagram are great resources for gleaming fresh inspiration and new ideas. We encourage our clients to be bold when cultivating images that inspire them. Don't be afraid to think outside the box. If you see an image completely unrelated to design, such as an equestrian rider and their horse and the cognac colour has you swooning, it's noteworthy. As a matter of fact, we prefer more abstract forms of inspiration as we feel they say more about a person than just another image of someone else's home. You are our inspiration after all, so cultivate some original inspiration and let us help translate your natural curiosities into a space that represents who you are.

Home Designer Software is the top-rated 3D interior design, remodeling and home design software. Based on technology from Chief Architect's professional architectural software, Home Designer is made easy for DIY. Discover why Home Designer is the best home design app to visualize and design your next house project.
Advanced building tools for roofs, foundations and framing make the design process easy. As you draw walls, the program creates a 3D model. When you place a door or window, it is inserted into the wall and the program automatically updates the framing. When you move walls, the roof and foundation are also updated. Every item you add into the design is included in a list of materials so you can cost estimate and budget your home project.
Remodeling a kitchen or bath? Cabinets are smart objects that snap, bump and form to walls. You will find a large selection of cabinet types. Quickly change colors and styles with the Material Painter to visualize design options.
Design your projects in both 2D and 3D! 2D floor plans provide the details of room layout and dimensions, while 3D provides realistic visualization, including virtual tours so you can experience your design before it's built. See our Samples Gallery for a variety of 3D rendering examples completed in Home Designer.
Chief Architect provides the highest quality software, live customer support without charge and the very best resources for learning in the industry. The software runs on a Mac or PC. It can be deactivated, making it easy to switch between multiple computers. All Home Designer products are compatible with the Chief Architect professional architectural product line, and you can share your designs with friends and family using the 3D Viewer app.
"Quoi que vous fassiez, faites-le avec passion!" For French designer and creative director, Cordelia de Castellane this quote - 'Whatever you do, do it with passion!' extends to all aspects of her busy, beautiful life.
The mother of four is the artistic director of Dior Maison and Baby Dior who started her own childrenswear label CdeC when she was just 25 years old. Growing up between the bustle of Paris and the Swiss mountain air, Cordelia has an entrenched appreciation for the arts and nature. As she describes, "a childhood full of the contrast between Paris - a city of movement, Art & Culture and Switzerland - the closeness of nature and alpine life. Today I need that balance to feel well."
Cordelia's new book, Life in a French Country House, shares the beauty of her life in the countryside - embracing the seasons and living with passion - whether it's her dahlia obsession, creating tables for celebrations at home or inspiration for her designs at Dior, Cordelia's love of flowers, of entertaining, and for life, is infectious.
Please tell us about your upbringing between France and Switzerland and your early aspirations - what you loved and what you wanted to be...
It was a childhood full of the contrast between Paris - a city of movement, Art & Culture and Switzerland - the closeness of nature and alpine life. Today I need that balance to feel well.
I always wanted to work in fashion, in a 'Big House', I always felt close to beauty, fabrics, and prints and growing up between Paris and the meadows of Switzerland provided lots of inspiration and I was lucky to have beauty around me. Nature is part of my world and DNA I guess. Finding beauty is key for me.
Before joining Dior, what jobs did you have? Were you always destined to be a designer? How did the family background inform your career choice?
Before joining Dior, I grew up with Emmanuel Ungaro and Karl Lagerfeld at Maison Chanel and at 25 years old I created my children's clothing brand 'CdeC'. It was my dream and maybe my destiny to be a designer. All my family was very aware of my career aspirations - they are all artists and are all very free in their choices.
When designing collections for Dior, what are you drawn to for inspiration?
Designing for Dior means understanding and respecting the heritage of the House. My greatest inspiration comes from Christian Dior's past, there are a lot of archives that are a never-ending dream of nature, prints, and places...
You divide your time between your country house in the north of France and your apartment in Paris - how did you approach the decoration of each?
I treat them differently. For example, I would not bring the city contemporary look to my countryside home. Once again, the past of the place is key and my most important thing is to feel at home and not in a (highly) decorated place.
We love your approach to mixing high and low in your interiors - from art to furniture, keep it interesting and unpretentious. Do you have any favourite places to shop for the mix? Apart from Dior Maison of course!
Flea Markets; Zara Home... I hate pretentious and snobby interiors. I shop for what I like. Labels are not what I look for, I like unique things which make me feel good, and I hate total looks.
You are a mother of four - How do you manage the juggle of your own projects, your commitments at Dior and family life?
I do my best as every other mother. My family will always be my priority.

The KB Home Design Studio is an interactive showroom where you can see and touch the various design elements in action. There are sections dedicated to lighting, cabinetry, flooring, plumbing fixtures, home security features and more, allowing you to mix and match colors and finishes until you find the features that best suit your style and budget.
At your studio appointments, a consultant will guide you through each design section, record your preliminary selections, and, during your final appointment, finalize your choices and send them on to the builder. In other words, prepare to move quickly.
This post is based on my experience at the Orlando KB Home Design Studio. Please keep in mind that your experience may be different depending on your community and studio location. Find your local studio here.
Buyers are not required to attend a preview event, but I highly recommend checking one out before signing a sales contract. This informal preview gives you an opportunity to view all the available options, make sure there is something to suit your style and budget, and ask questions about your specific floor plan or community.
The design process moves very quickly. In our case, we had three weeks from the time we signed our sales contract to attend two required studio appointments and finalize all of our design choices. We rushed to take time off of work to get it done in such a short time frame, but because we spent so much time at preview events before and even during the process, we felt confident in our selections by the time our final appointment rolled around. Our timeline looked something like this:
As the name suggests, structural upgrades affect the structure of the building AKA the specifications of the floor and building plans, as opposed to design studio upgrades, which cover cosmetic changes such as using a different tile in the bathroom, adding a kitchen backsplash, or opting for gray cabinets throughout the house.
It is crucial to note that most structural upgrades are not actually added at the design studio. They must be selected at the sales office and specified on the initial sales contract. That being said, asking about structural upgrades (and their price tags) at a preview event can prove helpful in selecting the right floor plan and maximizing your overall home budget.
