18Ardennes question on 4D trade-in

The rules are a little unclear as to how many companies can trade a 4/5/6 train in for a 4D.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

18Adennes isn't a prototype anymore. There was a discussion about this earlier today on the main 18xx yahoogroup, where the question was answered.
